Director of Culture and Data Integrity

Position Overview

The Director of Culture and Data Integrity is a strategic leaderwho works to create and enhance a culture of achievement and respect where highexpectations and results are the norm. Strong schoolenvironments are essential for our students’ academic and long-term success. Thisperson will work collaboratively with school leaders and central office staffto develop a network-wide approach to strengthen school culture, including, butnot limited to, researching and implementing best practices in social-emotionallearning, restorative practices, and building a culture ofachievement and respect with families, students and school/network staff.

Core Responsibilities

School Discipline

  • Collaborate with school leadership teams and provide leadership to the schools’ Deans and other staff assignedto create and manage a safe and restorative learningenvironment.
  • Design and implement systematic approach to managing andintervening on student discipline issues based on the Acero Student Handbookand Restorative Practice models.
  • Evaluate implementation of Student Handbook and RestorativePractice models at school levels.
  • Work collaboratively with Legal Department and school Principals toensure proper implementation, follow through, and compliance on all student disciplinaryactions and incident reports.
  • Assist schools in the creation of Restorative Justice anddiscipline data tracking systems and data analysis.
  • Work with Deans and assigned staff to organize and supportschool staff and administration in coordinating strategic Restorative Justice,school discipline, and behavior initiatives and projects.
  • Work with Deans and assigned staff to provide technicalassistance to schools around building systems and structures related to studentdiscipline and Restorative Justice.

 

School Culture

  • Ensure that all campuses maintain >95% daily attendance andtimeliness.
  • Support successful implementation of school-wideattendance programs.
  • Oversee the research and implementation of new schoolculture initiatives to strengthen and support schools network wide, including,but not limited to, the development of social-emotional learning and restorativepractices.

 

Data Integrity

  • Oversee the accurate reporting and integrity of data regardingschool-wide attendance, master schedule and discipline data/records inPowerSchool, IMPACT and other CPS/ISBE data systems, including monitoring and reviewing data for integrity acrossvarious systems.
  • Overseethe evaluation and effectiveness of Acero’s implementation of PowerSchoolnetwork wide.
  • Evaluateand improve the master scheduling process network wide, including developingand monitoring scheduling timelines.
  • Designand deliver training to administrators/scheduling teams regarding the schedulingcomponent of PowerSchool.
  • Evaluateand improve access, usage, and implementation of all PowerSchool features tomonitor and implement attendance, discipline and other resources to supportschool culture improvement efforts.
  • Implement controls and compliance metrics to reduce dataissues and improve data quality.
  • Assure ongoing maintenance and updating of PowerSchoolsoftware and implementation of PowerTeacher Pro.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

  

Qualifications

  • Education:Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’sdegree in related field (strongly preferred)
  • 3-5 years of school management ornetwork-level experience (strongly preferred)
  • Previous experience with eSIS, PowerSchool, or other Student Information System software
  • A minimum of five years of experience working with school scheduling with detailed knowledge and experience in development of school master schedules for grades K-12 (strongly preferred)
  • Highly knowledgeable in school compliance, school law, CPSIMPACT (strongly preferred)
  • Highly knowledgeable in Tableau (preferred)
  • Strong experience in writing and reviewing school policies,procedures, handbooks and all school compliance matters
  • Strong technology application skills
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with network personnel and work cooperatively with diverse groups of people
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Systems-level thinker who can craft a vision for how anorganization should approach student character and culture work
  • Extremely adept and problem solving and critical thinking;able to formulate hypotheses, gather and synthesize data, develop and assessalternatives and build a case for recommendations
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability toboth build relationships and drive results across teams and with network“customers”
  •  Adept at project management; able to own a project planfrom kick-off to close-out, driving multiple competing priorities forward
  •  Highly knowledgeable in the field of student character,school culture, and restorative practice
  • Facility designing andimplementing professional development with adult learners resulting in improvedstudent outcomes
  • Skill in program design,implementation, data analysis and evaluation
  • Must hold permanentresidency in the United States (required)

 

Physical Demands

The natureof the work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment,and the ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile andprepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Physical demandsinclude the ability to stand, bend, reach high and low, stoop, and walk aroundthe classroom 60% of the day. In addition, candidates must be able to liftand/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods of time, and walk up anddown stairs several times a day.

 

Working Conditions

Majority ofwork is performed in a general office environment. Position requires availabilityfor extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties.Also requires participation and attendance at organization-sponsored events andmeetings.
