Position Overview

Supervises workactivities of assigned personnel and building. Work duties include custodialand other miscellaneous tasks in order to ensure that building and facility ismaintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.

CoreResponsibilities

·Overseesregular janitorial and maintenance duties in assigned building, including self-performance

·Ensurethat all janitorial checklists are completed as scheduled (see list below)

·Supervisejanitorial staff

·Acceptsinstructions from the Acero Schools Facilities Manager verbally or in writing

·Providesthe Acero Schools Facilities Manager with restocking information for disposablejanitorial items

·Assists,where necessary, students, parents, staff and visiting members of the publicwho are utilizing the facilities

·Overseebuilding recycling program

·Safelyoperates all vehicle and other job related equipment: use ladders when requiredin work assignments

·Takesclasses as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, safety& injury illness prevention, and workplace skills

·Projectsa positive image for Acero Schools with building occupants and users

·Worksclosely with Acero Schools Facilities Manager to be prepared for unscheduledevents, as needed

·Ensuresfacility security by opening/closing the building daily and escorting vendors

·Workson call as needed at any time for emergency repairs, equipment monitoring,overtime, or special needs failing outside of normal working hours

·Respondsto emergency and security calls regarding vandalism, alarms, broken windows,malfunctioning sprinklers and other calls; reports incident to Supervisorappropriate

·Provideinput in developing and implementing plans and programs to improve janitorialand maintenance care of facilities

·Providesinput for Acero Schools Facilities Department efficiency and recommendsimplementation of new janitorial and maintenance techniques, materials andequipment

·Maintainsand manages inventories and work requests on the 311 system

·Createspurchase orders for approval by Acero Schools Facilities Manager

·Otherduties as assigned by the Acero Schools Facilities Manager

·Createand maintain staff schedule

·CompleteMaintenance/Janitorial Service checklist

Qualifications

• Essential physical and mental capabilities in the following: Interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, follow directions, comprehension, calculating, reading, writing, speaking, evaluating, mathematics, organizing and innovation
• Computer literate
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
• Must hold permanent residency in the United States (required)

Physical Demands

The nature of the work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment, and the ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Physical demands include the ability to stand, bend, reach high and low, stoop, and walk around the classroom 60% of the day. In addition, candidates must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs. for short periods of time, and walk up and down stairs several times a day. 

Working Conditions

Majority of work is performed ina general office environment. Position requires availability forextended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform jobduties. Also requires participation and attendance atorganization-sponsored events and meetings.
