This is a grant funded position. Continuity of this position is dependent upon continued receipt of grant funding. The Success Coach assists students in defining career aspirations and identifying community college programs and/or training to meet aspirations and achieve educational goals. The Success Coach will empower students to make informed decisions regarding career and educational plans in preparation for success in community college education and training.SALARY SCHEDULE PLACEMET: Range of $44,333 - $61,480 based upon the Alabama Community College System and Shelton State Community College Salary Schedule E3-3 to be determined by the applicant’s education and years of applicable experience. Applicant acknowledges that if selected for the position that applicant’s placement on the applicable salary schedule will be dependent upon the verified information provided by the applicant in accordance with the applicable work experience verification requirements stated herein.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities: Train students in the 12 Connections CurriculumProvide early outreach to low-income students/first-generation college students and their families about the importance of postsecondary education, college programs relevant to their career interests, and how to prepare, apply, and fund their educationCommunicate with targeted school personnel to match student interests and skills with career opportunities within the stateConnect educationally disadvantaged students to bridge programsAssist students in planning for and connecting to post-secondary educationAssist students in learning about and accessing financial aid Represent and promote career and technical programs in high schools and the communityAssist students with career assessments and career exploration activitiesConduct public relations efforts to promote technical and health programsConduct college and career presentations in area high schools and the communityProvide guidance to students regarding career choicesSchedule and host college tours for studentsDevelop and maintain partnerships with business and industry, and organizations affiliated with career and technical programsAssist with planning and implementing student recruitment activities for technical and health programsRegularly engage in professional learning activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideasUse technology effectively for work processing, record-keeping, instructional applications, electronic communication, information and data managementWork with other college personnel to coordinate workshops with high school students on applying for college admissions, financial aid, and dual enrollmentProcess incoming and outgoing correspondenceObtain, gather, and organize essential data as needed and compile the data in a usable formLead in recruiting, and outreach efforts on behalf of the Workforce Education department to promote short-term training programs and generate interest in the high schoolsWork with the Workforce Development Project Manager to document student, instructor, and class information that is needed for reportingMonitor registration data and recommend marketing and public relations effort targeted at increasing enrollment. Implement recommendations when appropriateWork with the Workforce Development Project Manager to create an annual schedule of class offerings, and regularly update the schedule as neededCollaborate with dual enrollment personnel and processes to maximize post-secondary attainment in the College’s service areaDemonstrate excellent oral and written communication skillsOther Job Duties and Responsibilities: Participate in annual planning and evaluation sessions in support of the College's vision, mission, and institutional goalsParticipate in college events and functionsParticipate on division/college committees, teams, and task forcesEstablish and maintain positive working relationships with other administrative, faculty, and staff personnelComply with policies of the Alabama Community College System and the CollegeServe on College committees as requiredParticipate in professional development, compliance, and other training activities as requiredPerform other duties as assigned by supervisor
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

If employed, official transcripts must be received in the Office of Human Resources within thirty (30) days of the employment start date.A copy of a valid driver's license.IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ CAREFULLYWORK EXPERIENCE VERIFICATION: Meeting Minimum Requirements: If the requirements for a position list work experience in a field or area the Applicant must provide written verification(s) of their applicable work experience in order to be hired for the position. Such written verification(s) of work experience must demonstrate that the applicant meets the minimum work experience requirement. Applicants who do not produce this information as indicated will be ineligible for hire and subject to having any offer of employment withdrawn. Salary Calculation: For all positions on all Salary Schedules, the salary amount for the selected applicant is determined by step placement on the applicable schedule. Step placement is dependent upon the following: (a) all work experience in public education in Alabama and (b) all other work experience outside of public education in Alabama that, in the sole judgment of the College, directly relates to the requirements of the position. The applicant selected for the position must provide written verification(s) of this work experience within the time provided herein if such experience is to be considered in determining their initial step place on the Salary Schedule. Format for Work Experience Verifications: Work experience verifications should be in the form of verification letters from employers and must include complete employment dates, job title(s), job duties, and an indication whether such employment was full-time or part-time, and if part-time, the average number of hours worked each week. The letters should be on official letterhead and contain an authorized personnel signature. The College’s official employment verification form is also acceptable and is available upon request. If an employment verification cannot be obtained due to a legitimate reason, for purposes of meeting minimum requirements an applicant may submit copies of other trustworthy documentation such as appointment letters, contracts, pay stubs, or W-2 forms documenting the term of employment. However, such documentation is generally insufficient for salary calculation purposes if job duties are not self-evident in the documentation. Deadline for Producing Work Experience Verification: With limited exception, work experience verification documentation must be produced prior to any official offer of employment. Work experience verification from a current employer may, upon request, be delayed until an official offer of employment. Any offer of employment at a salary step greater than zero (0) or made without prior verification of any required work experience, is contingent upon production of this documentation by the applicant within ten (10) days of the offer. It is the applicant’s sole responsibility to provide this verification of work experience. The College is not responsible for any cost associated with such verifications.
