This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of financial management principles and regulatory compliance, and offers the opportunity for professional growth and advancement into a leadership role within the company.

Controller Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Management: Provide strategic guidance to senior management based on comprehensive analytics and forecasts. Utilize financial data to advise on company direction and decision-making processes.
  • Financial Operations Oversight: Oversee processing of customer credit card payments, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Manage billing support for specific geographic districts (e.g., NY and DC), including invoicing and collections support.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Develop and deliver financial reports for management visibility into company performance, utilizing advanced analytics and forecasting techniques. Prepare regular financial statements and reconciliation reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Tax Compliance and Planning: Compile relevant documents for tax preparation and deliver to relevant parties. Provide support and guidance on tax compliance and planning initiatives.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable (AP/AR) Management: Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, payments, and collections. Implement strategies to optimize cash flow and minimize outstanding balances.
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, overseeing entries and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness. Lead end-of-month (EOM) and end-of-year (EOY) close processes, including reviewing journal entries and preparing necessary adjustments.
  • Expense Management: Manage expense requests, approvals, and tracking systems to control costs and maintain financial discipline. Oversee credit card authorization processes for employees using company cards.
  • Paper Filing and Digital Transition: Organize and maintain paper filing systems for invoicing paperwork, ensuring proper organization and shredding documents where possible. Support the transition from paper filing to digital storage systems, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of documents.
  • Financial Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within financial operations, implementing changes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

Controller Qualifications, Education, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Financial Expertise: Strong proficiency in financial management principles, with a demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
  • Advanced Technical Skills: Expertise in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and ADP with the ability to leverage technology for efficient financial management and reporting.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Leadership Abilities: Proven leadership capabilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate team members towards achieving common goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of tax laws and regulatory requirements, with experience in ensuring compliance within a financial context.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred. Previous experience in a similar controller or financial management role, with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Professional certifications (e.g., CPA) are a plus.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
