Position Overview:
We’re looking for a top-notch Director of Communications to add to our team. We expect our Director to operate as client counselor and account manager, overseeing projects, teams, and initiatives associated with our clients and managing the day-to-day of account teams. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, experienced communications strategist, trend spotter, and creative brainstormer who isn’t afraid to share ideas and opinions. The candidate should have a strong understanding of integrated marketing, PR, and corporate communications, as well as be comfortable -- and energized -- working in the crisis and issues management space.
Responsibilities / Skills:
  • Build and manage relationships with existing client base; Serve as daily client contact and as client lead, when appropriate
  • Lead research, planning, and development of comprehensive client campaigns and strategies related to PR, corporate communications, and reputation management
  • Develop and execute media relations strategies and outreach
  • Oversee quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline adherence
  • Help set client program goals and manage against them
  • Craft internal and external correspondence, communications plans, press materials, statements, new business proposals, etc.
  • Guide integrated strategies and program execution spanning owned, earned, and paid channels
  • Mentor, coach, and support team members and ensure you and your staff are constantly learning
  • Oversee junior staff’s work products to ensure quality and consistency
  • Set achievable goals and tasks, delegate opportunities, and provide resources for staff to meet their goals; consistently measure and reward goal achievement
  • Demonstrate understanding of core financial constructs including revenue, profitability, pricing structures (hourly vs. retainer accounts), budgeting and forecasting
  • Effectively work within account budget parameters and deadlines
  • Manage and solve any conflicts with clients or any problems they may have
  • Interact and coordinate with the leadership team and other staff members in other departments working on the same account
  • Assist with content development 
  • Keep up with trends, changes, and competitor actions that might affect clients
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or a related field 
  • 5 years of experience in account management
  • Proven work experience as an account manager and client lead
  • Agency experience preferred
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Experience in communications, marketing and public relations
