POSITION: Assistant Engineering Manager DEPARTMENT: Operations REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager FLSA STATUS: Full-time Salaried, Exempt Summary ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for Assistant Engineering Manager for ASM Global/Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Engineering Assistant Manager reports to the Engineering Manger, under general supervision, and supervises, directs, plans, schedules, and monitors special projects related to facility systems (i.e., mechanical, electrical, and plumbing – “M.E.P.”), structural repairs/changes, grounds repairs/changes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supervise engineering and maintenance staff. Assign specific work tasks and monitor progress as to timeliness and quality of results. Assists maintenance department employee records and provides group and individual counseling related to department goals and objectives, planning sessions, project updates, department performance reviews, individual performance reviews, and disciplinary actions. Attend weekly staff meetings. Develop and maintain a harmonious working relationship with all the other departments. Assists in developing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining effective facility maintenance policies, procedures, and programs. This includes P.M. software program tracking for HVAC systems and equipment, electrical systems and equipment, refrigeration systems and equipment, kitchen systems and equipment, structural systems, facility hardware systems and equipment, and facility material handling and specialty equipment. Assist and provide cause for proper control and care of M.E.P. inventories of supplies, spare parts, shop tools and equipment. Oversee and provide cause for proper maintenance shop(s) conditions to be maintained in safe working conditions, safe working procedures, and in a clean and orderly work environment. Oversee related contracted maintenance agreements. Develop bid specifications, renew agreements, and manage all other related items to ensure that acceptable and quality performance levels are achieved. Assist, Track, and schedule required annual inspections- Fire alarm/suppression, emergency power, elevator/escalator etc. Assist and Lead special projects as they occur, must be able to price and complete projects in a timely manner. Assist EVS and Operations with tasks as needed. May occasionally have to enter areas where fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals are or may be present. Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience High School diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years degree or certificate of completion in any or all the fields of HVAC., electrical, or refrigeration from an advanced technical support school, institution, or related association. Minimum of four (4) years of full-time work-related experience in the public assembly industry (stadiums, arenas, and/or convention centers), with emphasis on facility maintenance/project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Specific HVAC and/or electrical certifications are preferred but not required. Skills and Abilities Position requires the ability to: Demonstrate knowledge in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility, in particular, the methods, techniques, and procedures to repair and maintain all mechanical, electrical, and event-related equipment. Understand and be capable of ensuring that all laws, building codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, and emergency procedures are followed. Be familiar with the principles and techniques of supervision, training, budget preparation, and purchasing. Possess any licenses, certificates, or training required by local, state, or national authorities for the operations of the equipment found in the facility. Respond to routine, precautionary, and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems. Follow and adhere to all safety precautions and procedures. Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and other related materials. Meet the physical demands of this job, which include being able to get in and around the facility (requires personal mobility), lifting, carrying, moving, climbing, working from various heights, and moderate to loud noises. Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, scrubbing machines or other light power-driven equipment. Personal computer using Windows and Microsoft Office software (light use). Operate standard office equipment, including copier and fax machine. Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form. Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results. Work independently and demonstrate the ability to exercise effective judgment and initiative. Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment. Be licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle in the United States. Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur. Ability to walk for extended periods of time. Ability to walk up and down stairs. Ability to regularly perform normal lifting of up to 50 pounds.
