The Engineering Designer I, with supervision, prepares engineering data (drawings, parts lists and related supporting documents) using manufacturer specifications, manufacturer instruction manuals, FAA regulations, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, acceptable industry practices, and customer expectations. In addition, this position support aircraft surveys as required. The Engineering Designer I demonstrates a high level of commitment to customer service and satisfaction; and accepts responsibility, demonstrates initiative, team work and attention to detail, and projects a professional image consistent with the company's mission, values and goals.
Essential Job Functions
1. Supports Engineering Project Team requirements by providing complete and accurate engineering data (drawings, parts lists and related supporting documents) using manufacturer specifications, manufacturer instruction manuals, FAA regulations, Duncan Aviation approved procedures, acceptable industry practices, and customer expectations concurrent with established project timelines. Learns and efficiently utilizes the company's design and engineering data base of product design. Assists less experienced engineering team members and new staff to increase the overall skill level of the team on a day to day basis.
2. With supervision, using drafting techniques and tools, creates drawings of avionics equipment installations and/or interior assemblies/ installations by developing and utilizing knowledge of the company's service, materials, products, and equipment capabilities and limitations. Learns and implements Design for Manufacturability (DFM) techniques.
3. Works with team members, other departments and management to identify and establish Best Practices and preferred processes. Works to continually improve and develop basic design and engineering skills.
4. Develops and maintains knowledge of FAA regulations through self initiated research, OJT, company and FAA offered training workshops and classes, etc.
5. Supports special projects and/or other duties as assigned by management.
