acadianambulance is Hiring a Coding Specialist Near Lafayette, LA

The Coding and Documentation Center is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Coding Specialist at our Kaliste Saloom location in Lafayette, LA. 

This position is an in-office position during training, but eligible for a work-from-home position with an in-office rotation afterward.

Overall Responsibility:Review medical documentation and accurately assign the appropriate billing ICD-10 codes for accurate claims processing according to federal and state guidelines.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Code documents according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations, ICD-10 coding guidelines, and AASI billing policies
  • Review medical records for appropriate medical and billing information while seeking clarification when necessary
  • Promote a positive rapport with field medics while utilizing effective customer service skills
  • Incorporate quality improvement measures which are found during the auditing process
  • Assist CDC management with process refinement
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in Google, MS Office Suite or related software
  • Medical Certification or ICD-10 Coding Certification preferred
  • Problem-solving abilities 
  • Good communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of ICD-10 coding guidelines (CPC preferred)
  • Familiarity with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services regulations (ambulance)
  • Maintain good personal motivation; develop a sense of ownership of job tasks and results.
  • Must have a sense of urgency for all work performed.
  • Professional work ethic and dress code
  • Ability to adhere to productivity goals, departmental and company guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Maintain highest level of confidentiality
  • Punctual with strong attendance history
