In a Nutshell:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SolidWorks Drafter to join our dynamic manufacturing team, specializing in the creation of high-quality cabanas and daybeds. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of drafting experience, with a strong emphasis on SolidWorks proficiency, particularly in weldments. This role requires an individual with a keen eye for detail, exceptional technical skills, and the ability to produce precise engineering drawings that meet both our stringent quality standards and the bespoke needs of our clients.

Essential Functions of the Role:

  • Create complex 3D models and detailed 2D drawings of cabanas and daybeds using SolidWorks, focusing on weldment design and fabrication.
  • Understands how to modify or update configuration properties within components and assemblies.
  • Knowledgeable in drafting basics, including but not limited to weldment cut lists, bill of materials, placing drawing views, adding dimensions on parts, creating cutaway views, creating detail views, and changing display styles.
  • Organized with naming and saving parts using the "Pack and Go" feature.
  • Understand how to update part descriptions with details from the McMaster Carr inventory.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to conceptualize and draft blueprints for new product designs and custom orders.
  • Update and maintain existing engineering drawings and models, ensuring all documentation is accurate and current.
  • Perform dimensional and tolerance analysis for manufacturing processes and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Participate in design review meetings to provide input on manufacturability and suggest improvements.
  • Liaise with production teams to troubleshoot drafting and design issues.
  • Assist in creating bills of materials and documentation for assembly instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of drafting standards and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned

Relevant experience, skills, and mindsets that we value:

  • Undergraduate or bachelors degree in Industrial Design or similar preferred
  • 5 years of Solidworks workplaceexperience (especially with weldments)
  • Certification in Solidworks preferred but not required
  • Demonstrates process excellence and keen attention to detail
  • Outstanding organizational skills; flexibility, and ability to prioritize
  • Exceptional oral and written communication
  • Experience using design thinking principles to improve operations and solve challenges
