Job Title: Entitlements Specialist
Department: harbor house
Reports To: Oversight Supervisor and VP of Admissions
Location: 830 Forest Ave.
Job Summary:
The Entitlement Specialist is responsible for managing a coordinated approach to benefits acquisition and maintenance. Specialist ensures that clients are linked with appropriate services to address specific needs.. The Entitlement Specialist goal is to keep clients engaged in services by ensuring that HRA, SSI/SSD and insurance benefits are approved and current. Entitlement Specialist ensures that the treatment team and administrators are aware of changes or potential changes to client benefits.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Coordination and Management of the application process for SSI/SSD, Public Assistance, Medicaid, and other appropriate entitlement/benefits.
· Tracking of applications to determine outcomes and the review and appeal of any denials.
· Ensures that clients are escorted to the Social Security, Human Administration office and other entitlements entities, and act as their liaison when required.
· Advocate for clients and attempt to reverse PA sanctions, denials, etc.
· Maintain a current spreadsheet of all clients seen and their status.
· Meets with specialist to discuss issues and concern and facilitate solutions.
· Ensures confidentiality of client information and records in accord pertinent standards.
· Provides information to clients on benefits and refer clients to other services.
· Track status of client managed plans
· Has frequent verbal and written conversation with supervisor and shelter administrator to further team approach harmonious performance of all housing and supportive services.
Qualifications/Criteria:
· Two (2) years successful employment as an entitlements/benefits specialist.
· Working knowledge of Federal, State and local benefits agencies.
· Working knowledge of insurance eligibility requirements.
· Working knowledge of Argus Community, Inc. residential program policies and services.
· Ability to communicate and otherwise relate to clients, administrators and others in the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to listen, understand and appreciate the worth/value or clients.
· Ability to establish rapport and meaningful professional relationship with clients.
· Ability to be a positive role model.
· Ability to inspire confidence, determination and trust in clients.
Education: BA in related field.
