AC Staff Agency is Hiring a Pharmacy Technician Near Fort Wayne, IN

We have a client looking for a Pharmacy Technician. This is a full-time position with benefits. The shift is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Job Summary

The Patient Assistance Pharmacy Technician will ensure proper processing and problem solving of specialty prescriptions to provide a high level of service. Provides customer service, receives patient prescriptions, reviews medication lists with patients, assists in preparing and dispensing medications and supplies, answers phones and triages patient phone calls to the pharmacist and/or nursing as necessary, and helps maintain the pharmacy in proper order. Ensures a high level of customer service and teamwork to provide optimal service.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
  • Ensures the accuracy of prescription and patient data entered into various systems by verifying patient, drug, quantities, directions, day’s supply, insurance, and physician data.
  • Creates physician profiles in computer systems, demographics, DEA, and NPI numbers.
  • Inputs insurance, pharmacy, and medical information; Initiates required prior authorizations when benefit investigation is not required; resolve aspects of specialty pharmacy insurances, including Medicare, Medicaid, PBM, and PPO and communicates with payers and advises patients or physician of results when needed.
  • Adjudicates and reviews prescription insurance claims and patient financial assistance plans of medications to be delivered to patients and providers.
  • Comprehends different type of patient financial assistance available and understand the requirement for patient eligibility and application submission
  • Communicates and supports all pharmacy teams as needed to coordinate timely prescription adjudication to meet delivery schedules.
  • Supports prescription updates for NDC changes.
  • Performs the appropriate contact to physician offices for refill authorizations.
  • Manages inactive and expired prescriptions.
  • Reports errors, omissions, or incidents to pharmacist.
  • Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, picking, processing, preparing, filling, labeling, and dispensing medications, supplies, and patient education material. Assists pharmacist in all other responsibilities, as appropriate.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment and equipment.
  • Monitors and maintains all required temperature logs as per policy and procedures.
  • Assists in stocking inventory, i.e. medication, supplies, and patient educational materials in the appropriate and assigned location in the pharmacy. Checks medication and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products removes out-of-date products from inventory and works with the appropriate resource to record out-of-date products while performing Fulfillment functions and inventory counts. Assists with full inventory and cycle count and manage mins and max levels of inventory
  • Assists with the drug recall process and returns when necessary.
  • Maintains productivity rates and meets quality expectations determined by management.t
  • Triage all clinical calls to clinical staff.
  • Participates in quality program initiatives and improvement activities.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA/HITECH.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Management.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry or specialty pharmacy as normally obtained through an Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of training through work experience or education.
  • Experience with adjudicating prescription drugs, corresponding with insurance companies, and processing payments, is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with specialty pharmacy products and operations preferred.
  • Licensed as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the required state(s).
  • Knowledge of Specialty medications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of home infusion, mail-order pharmacy or general pharmacy operations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other graphics or presentation software.
  • Knowledge of Epic, specialty pharmacy software, and pharmacy prescription adjudication systems.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Must possess a personal presence characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities, and adapt to them as they change frequently.
  • Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.
  • Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
  • Frequent immobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.
  • Some bending and stooping are required.
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, photocopy machine, and other office equipment.
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to read reports and computer terminals.
  • Requires hearing within the normal range for telephone use.
  • Work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Normal office environment and/or standing for prolonged periods...
