Vesta Hospitality is looking for a talented individual to help fill the role of Accounting manager for the AC by Marriott Hotel at the Vancouver waterfront.
The 150-room AC by Marriott Hotel opened in June 2022, featuring 7,000 sq ft of event space (all with river view), restaurant and lounge with outdoor seating, and spectacular views of the Columbia River.

The Accounting Manager provides leadership in the development, design, implementation and ongoing management of assigned accounting and reporting processes for compliance with established accounting policies and standards. In addition, the Accounting Manager manages and/or assist with the management of programs such as recruiting, employment, compensation, benefits and training for hotel associates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties:
1. Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
2. Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
3. Financial analysis of hotel operations including preparing variance explanations and make recommendations to ensure the achievement of business goals
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
This position directly oversees and supervises all positions of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Oversees the day-to-day operations of all front desk associates. Assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, directing efforts and providing technical guidance on complex issues. Training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies with limited or no guidance.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Education and/or Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two years related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills:
Has advanced computer job skills including logging on to systems, ability to communicate by email, ability to compose documents, enter database information, create presentations, download forms, and preserve/backup important data. Must be adept at using various applications.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
