Abstrakt Marketing Group is Hiring a Project Estimator Near Madison, WI

Description

This is a full-time, direct placement role at Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection.

The project estimating has estimating and business development responsibilities. This position is responsible for any and all tasks necessary to put together a complete project estimate. This position manages projects from bid monitoring and preparation through project budgeting. This position will be responsible for projects of varying sizes and complexities including assigned projects. This position takes full responsibility for project estimation to ensure a successful bid and budgeting for the project managers and the company. 

Job Duties:

Estimating

• Identify new project opportunities 

• Attend pre-bid meetings and walkthroughs 

• Review plans, specifications, and bid documents and procure all necessary information required for the estimate 

• Follow up with General Contractors/Engineers on budgeting questions and pricing as needed 

• Perform bid layouts, material counts, and prepare totals 

• Perform detailed material take-offs of project per system

• Procure all necessary quotes and subcontractor coordination 

• Create project estimates and prepare the proposals and documentation for submission 

• Create budget for project managers and field foreman based off estimate 

Business Development 

• Attend meetings/interviews with customers/GCs to serve as technical resource and present/sell our plumbing capabilities 

• Establish and maintain relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and others in the industry 

• Attend industry and MPFP customer events

• Cross-sell other areas of the business to customers 

Requirements

Education & Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent industry or trade experience 

• 5 years of project estimating experience in the construction industry to include project estimating of medium to large scale commercial construction projects 

Knowledge & Skills 

• Technical knowledge and understanding of plumbing systems and codes 

• Good technical skills in the design and construction of plumbing systems for commercial buildings 

• Knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, estimating, scheduling, safety) 

• Understanding of job financial reports and the ability to apply these in budgeting awarded projects 

• Ability to read and understand plans and technical specifications 

• Ability to present yourself as professional and knowledgeable 

• Ability to build new customer relationships while nurturing and maintaining existing relationships 

• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks, priorities, and projects effectively 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills 

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) 

• Proficient with take-off/estimating software (FastEst) Job Description Other Requirements 

• Valid driver’s license to drive a vehicle for company business 

• Work is performed in an office setting 

• Travel to customer sites, jobsites, and project meetings will be required 

• Position has frequent verbal, written, and face-to-face communication with customers and field staff
