The Mission of the Department of Public Instruction:

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state's public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education.

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for a (Working Title: Operations Manager) for our Office of Virtual Instruction Services.

The Office of Virtual Instruction Services is responsible providing support for remote academy educators, students, and families across the state. This office also oversees the Rethink Ed program. Rethink K-12 Models, is a comprehensive, state-wide effort to strengthen remote learning across North Carolina's K-12 schools in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative is funded through a US Department of Education grant. The program builds teacher capacity through a high-quality professional development certification process, provides new standards-aligned virtual course content that focuses on K-8, offers mobile-friendly learning resources and technical assistance for parents, and prioritizes implementation of both online and offline learning options. This program prepares us for a future where students, families, schools, and PSUs can seamlessly transition between remote and in-person schooling.

This position is responsible for playing a pivotal role in the management of the Office of Virtual Instruction Services' programs and initiatives by overseeing its operational facets, ensuring seamless coordination, and strategic alignment with educational objectives. Reporting directly to the Director, this individual will be instrumental in driving efficiency, effectiveness, and impact across all initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Coordination - Develop and execute strategic plans to advance remote learning initiatives aligned with North Carolina educational standards. Coordinate with key stakeholders, including Regional Virtual Consultants, school administrators, educators, and community partners to ensure cohesive implementation of program objectives.

Professional Development and Technical Assistance - Design and deliver professional development programs tailored to the needs of educators, focusing on remote learning pedagogy, technology integration, and best practices. Provide technical assistance and support to schools in leveraging digital tools and resources effectively for remote instruction.

Program Delivery and Oversight - Oversee the day-to-day operations of the program, resource management and compliance with federal grant requirements. Monitor program delivery metrics and outcomes to assess effectiveness and make data driven recommendations for improvement.

Data Collection and Reporting - Establish systems for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on program activities, outcomes, and impact. Generate regular reports for internal and external stakeholders to demonstrate accountability and program effectiveness.

This position is subject to travel as needed to support program goals. This is a homebased position and requires 20-35% travel.

Master's degree in the education field to which assigned from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of specifically related experience in public education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
