Summary:

Abrasive Form is a world leader in high precision Aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) machining. We manufacture turbine blades and vanes for many of the largest gas turbine manufacturers and militaries around the world. We use high precision CNC milling, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and 3 and 5-axis creep feed and CBN grinding.

The Production Support Assistant will provide on-the-floor support to improve velocity (throughput) in the operations process. This will be hands-on opportunity to impact the business results across safety, quality, productivity and delivery by assuring proper tool care and cleanliness, floor and building cleanliness and assisting in special projects as needed. A successful candidate will be a self-starter, committed to safety for self and the team, hungry to learn and make improvement, a high standard for quality and process compliance, and a team player.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement and sustain 5S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain) in the facility.
• Operate power and hand tools safely for required building and special projects.
• Perform painting and use of paint and painting equipment as directed.
• Clean machines, equipment, tools and the building and other areas while using cleaning solutions to achieve the best results.
• Primarily perform duties on the production floor, in a physical capacity.
• Assist with inventory management of totes, tooling, and bins as required.
• Perform gauge calibration and electrode recordings and documentation (in/out) for supply management.
• Organize and remove extra items to reduce clutter in operating areas.
• Operate a forklift to assist in organizing warehouse/production floor and move materials as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Must be flexible to change priorities as needed.
• Self-starter, internally motivated to support business needs in a timely fashion.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced manufacturing role.
• Prior experience working in an environment with 5S principles and adhering to them.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Prior experience working in a position requiring physical exertion consistently.
• Ability to follow directives and processes.
• Ability to be certified in a sit-down, stand up forklift as well as Aerial Lifts. Prior experience operating forklift a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in owning 5S in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous building maintenance a plus.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience operating a forklift, a plus.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs frequently.
• Ability to use a computer is preferred.
• Must be able to work on your feet in a manufacturing environment with noise as well as an office environment.
• Physical ability to do work requiring frequent standing, stooping, reaching, lifting and bending.

Working Environment

Usual manufacturing environment with temperature fluctuations, noise from and interactions with equipment, and safety standards of PPE and practices required.
