Abonmarche is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer/Project Manager in our South Bend, IN office.

Job Summary:

Manage, organize, design, and execute highway, roadway, and other Civil Engineering projects for clients – including the Indiana Department of Transportation and other local public agencies. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides engineering design and support for a variety of transportation design projects including roadway reconstruction and overlay, bridge approaches, multi-use paths, storm sewers, traffic signals, sidewalk ramps, guardrail, pavement marking and signing, and right of way plans.
  • Develops plans, specifications and estimates based on current INDOT plan development requirements.
  • Manages design team of up to four people in the development of projects throughout the design process.
  • Performs drainage delineation, calculation and storm sewer pipe sizing using hydrocad or other SWMM software.
  • Develops pavement marking plans, signing plans, and maintenance of traffic plans. 
  • Recommends Best Management Practices (BMPs) per requirements of INDOT, IDEM and other MS4’s according to Indiana CGSWP
  • Performs and delivers cost estimates using INDOT’s Average Item Price Report and ability to work through AASHTO software.
  • Prepares design computations and quantity estimates.
  • Reviews, assigns and provides guidance to drafting technicians to prepare working design plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Assists in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, design schedules, and studies.
  • Assists in the preparation of proposals and other Letters of Interest

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Indiana Professional Engineer Required

Work Experience/Qualifications:

  • 5 years of highway design (all components of alignment and geometrics), based on INDOT and AASHTO road design manuals.
  • Must be proficient with AutoCad and Civil 3D
  • Must have prior experience in 3D modelling using Civil3D
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills as position will require direct contact with multidisciplinary team and clients.

Work Environment:

Typical office environment with some work performed outside on a project site. May be exposed to extreme temperatures. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety boots/shoes, hard hat, safety vest, etc.
