Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is Hiring a Facilities Maintenance Worker- General Services Near Richmond, VA

Description

Richmond Behavioral Health Authority has a full-time position available for a Facilities Maintenance Worker to perform performs a variety of routine and semi-skilled tasks involving general maintenance of residential facilities, equipment and grounds. Work addresses immediate operational and/or safety concerns.
Job Duties:
Coordinates with and assists vendors under the direction of the assigned supervisor in completion of projects in a safe, efficient manner (e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, competing assigned job-functions, etc.)
Ensures that buildings and grounds are cleaned as needed
Routinely inspect and install system component parts, (e.g. lighting, heating and ventilating systems, alarms, plumbing, security, electrical panels, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and workable environment.
Maintains tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
Performs a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within the established time frames.
Repairs furniture and building system components for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns (e.g. cleaning snow from entrances and walkways, responding to power outages, etc.)
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in skilled trades, power and hand tools, etc.; adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; and planning and managing projects. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Education and Experience:
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including responsible job related experience.
Physical Requirements:
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 50 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting and occasionally requires speaking or hearing, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and repetitive motions; work requires color perception; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electrical shock; work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).
Special Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license and evidence of a safe driving record
