Responsibilities

• Administers physical therapy directly in alignment with the physical therapist's instructions and the care plan.
• Treats patients with the aim of alleviating pain, enhancing or reestablishing functionality, and optimizing performance.
• Guides and assists patients in both active and passive therapeutic exercises, muscle retraining, walking and functional training, transfer exercises, and prosthetic training.
• Applies physical modalities such as heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage, as needed.
• Monitors and communicates any changes in the patient's condition or response to treatment to both the physical therapist and the organization's staff through prescribed communication channels.
• Educates patients on the proper use and care of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
• Maintains essential records, including clinical and conference notes, which are integrated into the patient's clinical record within specified timeframes.
• Participates in interdisciplinary group activities and the organization's In-service Education Programs.
• Engages in quality assessment and performance improvement teams and associated activities.
• Carries out additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

Licensed to practice as Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Associate degree in physical therapy

Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Current CPR certification

A licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state/or organization requirements and is in good working order
