Job Summary: Technical Accounting Manager will research and document complex accounting transactions, assisting management in determining appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP. The position will work closely with all members of the accounting department, senior leadership and financial management to produce timely, accurate and relevant financial accounting and reporting information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The key responsibilities will include as a minimum the following:

• Researches and implements new accounting standards that are deemed applicable to the Company.
• Establishes and documents accounting policies and positions in accordance with GAAP.
• Works collaboratively with ALL members of the accounting department
• Works with other team members outside of the department to understand the form and function of new processes and their effects on the financial statements.
• Works closely with the Financial Reporting Manager to ensure proper disclosure of transactions with the required SEC filings.
• Maintains a high level of internal control over financial reporting processes.
• Records Journal Entries
• Provides periodic back-up or support to other roles in the accounting department.
• Assists with audit PBC’s and requests.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least 4 years of public accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA or equivalent certification or progress towards certification is highly preferred. Experience in manufacturing environment a plus.

Essential Mental Functions:

• Knowledge and robust understanding of recent accounting pronouncements (example: ASC 606 and 842)
• Knowledge and robust understanding of SEC reporting requirements.
• Ability to work independently, with little supervision.
• Effectively communicate to upper management.
• Strategic thinker with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand business processes and initiative to pursue appropriate, timely and effective solutions to complex issues.
• Being about to discuss, explain and document complex issues to persons without an experienced accounting background.
• Knowledgeable about GAAP and SOX
• Excellent organizational skills and understanding of methods for streamlining and automating repetitive functions
• Ability to respond to time sensitive issues with quick turnaround

Essential Physical Functions:
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and ten key machines. This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets. This position requires sitting for long periods of time. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary. Position may require travel for work or training.

Equipment or Software Knowledge or Skills:
MS Office skills with advanced skills in MS Excel. Knowledge/use of IDEA, MS Access or Workiva is a plus.
