Crew Leaders are higher in position than Leadpersons but below Forepersons. : Crew Leaders supervise and coordinate the work of a crew on a specific project. Crew Leaders are primarily concerned with overseeing that their crew works skillfully and efficiently and that the assigned job progresses per schedule. They deal with the routing of material and equipment and with laying out the more difficult areas/tasks of the job. Crew Leaders must have a broad working knowledge of landscape disciplines and must have a precise eye for detail. Additionally, Crew Leaders must assist the Foreperson/Supervisor in running/managing the project including controlling labor, materials and equipment costs and they assist in the scheduling of people and tasks so as to consistently perform within budget. Crew Leaders must understand and utilize all resources available to them to consistently work to better the project’s projections and profitability. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Ability to perform all major competencies of Lead Person, Equipment Operator, and Irrigation Helper. Chemical Applicator certification a definite PLUS.

Language skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with appropriate grammar and vocabulary. Ability to read and write English. Ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking crew a definite PLUS. 

Math skills: Strong basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Certificates, licenses, etc.: Must have valid Arizona driver’s license, an acceptable DMV report, and pass the AAA Landscape driving test. 

Other: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Although typical workdays are Mon-Fri, must be able to work the occasional weekend.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Conditions may vary depending upon the time of the year and the location of the project; however, most Forepersons will manage projects out-of-doors, through all seasons.
