Job Summary:

The Chesterton Quality Organization is seeking an energetic, self-motivated and detail oriented Quality Assurance Specialist. Duties and responsibilities across various product lines include:

  • Implementation and execution of the Chesterton quality system requirements.
  • Are responsible for support/resolution of customer claims using 5-why or 8D problem solving methodology.
  • Evaluation of components using specific product and industry terminology.
  • Will use a variety of tools, measuring equipment and Microsoft office programs.
  • Compiles and reviews statistical data for trends in product condition repeatability.
  • Create reports to support the product condition findings.
  • The employee will interact with different functions throughout the organization

This Quality position will require the Specialist to utilize all of their knowledge, technical experience and continuous improvement techniques to drive favorable change in a production environment. This position works within the Quality organization, collaborate with other business areas and functions to improve the quality of our products, service and improve our brand image.

Job Model: On-Site

On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Implementation and execution of the Chesterton Quality System (CQS) requirements.

• Responsible for support/resolution of customer claims using "5-Why" or 8D problem solving methodology.

• Evaluation of components, product and finished goods using specific product and industry terminology.

• Will use a variety of tools, measuring equipment and Microsoft office programs.

• Compiles and reviews statistical data for trends in product condition repeatability.

• Create reports to support the product condition findings.

• Interacts with different functions throughout the organization.

• Assist in internal and external audits.

• Assist in executing a range of assigned projects in support of divisional/product line/sales/ marketing and company objectives and plans. This includes occasional assignments to support New Product Development efforts in a cross-functional team environment.

Complexity of Duties:

• Works with limited supervision.

• Makes decisions based upon sound judgment.

• Interacts effectively with senior management, across organizations, and internal and external customers in various organizations.

• Moderate involvement in solving technical and/or engineering problems.

• Moderate level of decision-making responsibilities.

• Strong product knowledge and understanding of how equipment operates.

• Strong communication and presentation skills.

• Computer literacy.

• Must be able to multi-task.

• Ability to learn and implement new skills quickly.

Education and/or Experience:

• Associates degree preferred.

• Four plus years related experience in a manufacturing/quality environment.

• Four plus years’ experience with rotating equipment desired.

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Strong math, writing, analytical and computer skills to ensure effective and accurate condition reports.

• Mechanical aptitude.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to work in an uncomfortable environment, varying temperatures and highly noisy environment.

Physical Demands:

The employee will be able to sit, stand and bend with arms and legs. The employee should have close and distant vision corrected or non-corrected. The employee will be required to wear safety glasses, steel toed shoes and rubber gloves. The employee should be able to use a respirator for short time periods. The employee should be able to lift 50 lbs. The employee may be required to wear hearing protection.
