Job Summary:

The PDM Analyst I is responsible for the successful implementation and maintenance of strategic data in our Business Operating System (DAX), primarily in the realms of customer and product data management. The PDM Analyst I will work closely with other departments (project managers, Marketing, Engineering, CST, etc.) tasked with assisting and implementation of initiatives and projects in the areas of data migration, master data management, data clean up, data governance, and quality. Additionally, this individual is responsible for managing the front end of the ES business for customer orders. This includes working closely with Customer Service, Engineering, planning while leading a cross functional meeting daily. Responsible for ensuring all reports, DAX data and drawings are updated based on agreed deliverables based on established lead times. This includes cross checking the customer order, production order and EPDM drawing statuses. This individual works within our business intelligence software and systems, including ERP databases with other databases such as CRM, EPDM, Solidworks, Case, etc. updating data and reports as needed. Understanding the systems and components required to build the product from product inquiry to sales shipment.

Job Model: Hybrid

All fully remote positions will require you to travel on site 2-4 times per month depending upon business needs at your own expense.

Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager.

On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Review all new requests for accuracy based on detailed understanding of database. Return to requester for updates as needed.
  • Interfaces with Applications Engineering, Design Engineering,. Account Executives, Distributors and Customers to determine design requirements.
  • Creates all necessary information for the item master including:
    • Part Number
    • Part Description
    • Supplier/Vendor ID
    • Vendor part number/description and cost
    • Overall product Cost
    • Other product specific items which can include: Item Class, Item Type, Order Policy, Master Schedule, Lead time, ABC Codes, List price, Discount Code
  • Represents and makes decisions on behalf of Engineered Solutions on a variety of teams, such as EHS, item master, mostly order fulfillment
  • Tracks order documentation progress to assure timeliness.
  • Resolves manufacturing BOM, documentation and drawing issues for Custom Products.
  • Expedites and assists in prioritizing drawings with Eng Drafting Manager & Operations-daily
  • Coordinates customer order delivery dates and scheduling of drawings with Engineering, CST and Operations on behalf of the customer and Chesterton policies.
  • Leads cross functional daily meeting to review all open ES customer orders and open work for updates and statuses. This includes, planning, CST, Operational Mangers, Engineering Managers, Purchasing, etc.
  • First point of contact to resolve all issues regarding, BOM, Route, drawings, etc, will resolve at this level or escalate accordingly

Complexity of Duties:

  • Works without supervision. Independent action required and inter-functional coordination.
  • Manages a multitude of tasks at one time and effectively prioritizes these tasks.
  • Experienced, thorough understanding of mechanical seal high volume (CNC) and low volume manufacturing.
  • Contacts are Engineering, Account Executives, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Costing, Distributor and Customers as needed.
  • Ability to document linkage of all product components, specifications and processes for product traceability.
  • Must be capable of implementing change management and ensure documentation is adhered to based on guidelines listing in company standards
  • Must have strong understanding of the systems and components required to build new product and how they are configured for sale.
  • Requires strong Customer Service Skills understanding deliverables and commitment for ship dates

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum Associate Degree in Business Administration or engineering or equivalent related experience.
  • 2 years product or manufacturing experience required.
  • 3 years working with or for Customer Service –direct contact with customers
  • Computer skills - current applications i.e. MS Word, Excel and Access.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong Business Operating Systems knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of product knowledge/BOM’s Routes
  • Understands CAD management processes (EPDM, Solidworks, etc)
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Technical product knowledge.
  • Good written/verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills with ability to manage many projects at one time.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints.
