Project Coordinator Job Description

Location:

Office in Duluth, MN. Frequent travel to job locations required.

Company:

North Shore Track is a railroad construction contractor serving multiple areas within Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa and the Dakotas. Our goal is to provide high quality services to our customers including but not limited to:

  • New Track Construction
  • General Track Maintenance
  • Track Inspections
  • Track Welding
  • Track Derailment & Re-Rail Services
  • Snow Removal and Cleanings

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for planning, estimating, and coordinating projects. The successful candidate will be a self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with an operation and maintenance team.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop a working relationship with our clients and understand their unique rail operational needs.
  • Through coordination with project manager and office manager communicate to clients track condition and areas of concern. Jointly develop repair plans, budgets and execution through NST field operations.
  • Assist in development and integration of estimating, accounting and planning processes.
  • Work with management on estimates and project coordination.
  • Ordering, tracking and cost coding of materials for projects.
  • Assist in inventory management and tracking procedures with the following: Track current inventory and forecast needs, Communicate with NST management about inventory needs, Assist in receiving of materials and organizing within facility, Make regular visual inspections of inventory counts to match against records.
  • Identify potential project/corporate savings in equipment/man power/material utilization.
  • Attend internal preconstruction meetings and prepare project specific guidelines and procedures.
  • Compose project specific safety plans and budgetary guidelines in detailed reports for field use.
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace. Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice and counseling for all compliance regulations.
  • Assist in new employee orientation training.
  • Observe field operations and familiarize yourself with North Shore Track work tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate with managers, supervisors, and foreman to create and distribute weekly employee and project schedule.
