POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Lead Class A Driver at A.F. Wendling, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods to our customers. This position goes beyond just driving; it involves leadership, responsibility, and a commitment to maintaining our company's reputation for excellence. Our truck drivers build relationships with each customer using their positive, friendly attitude and become familiar with their operations to meet needs and expectations as well as working closely with our team to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Must possess a valid Driver's License
Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards. Must meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier (FMCSA) regulations.
Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
Basic written and verbal communication skills
Ability to follow instructions and complete required training.
Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
Adhere to a Schedule Ability to understand and adhere to an assigned schedule.
Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Time Management Skills - Managing one's own time.
HS Diploma or equivalent,
Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must have very strong urgency in meeting objectives and deadlines.
Requires the ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
Ability to complete tasks under standardized situations with occasional variables.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
Physical ability to lift, carry, and position: up to 30 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
Must be able to constantly bend, reach above shoulder, grasp objects, climb, kneel, squat, twist and stand throughout shift.
Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls.
Working in multiple environments and inclement weather
Work Environment:
Work hours may vary, or change based on department requirements.
Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 80 pounds frequently.
Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 100 lbs.
Normal setting for this job is outdoors and/or driving a GPS monitored vehicle.
Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
