POSITION SUMMARY:

Sales Consultants sell food and food related product and services using product, organizational, and customer knowledge to influence customers and assist them in applying the products and services to their needs, resulting in revenue generation. Sales Consultants will be responsible for finding opportunities to close, penetrate existing accounts, and open new accounts for acquisition and development within a specified territory. As well as maintaining AR for assigned customers and meeting goals and KPIs as assigned.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages a geographical sales territory ensuring that independent and regional account business is developed, and budgeted sales and profit objectives are achieved on a monthly basis.
  • Regularly calls on existing and potential customers.
  • Develops and executes business plans.
  • Effectively manages time and resources to attain results.
  • Manages pricing and monitors credit term compliance.
  • Capacity to convey ideas effectively and sell a variety of products
  • Demonstrate products to prospects and customers
  • Ability to problem solve quickly and creatively
  • Goal-oriented and driven self-start who can work independently within a team environment
  • Valid Drivers license with clean driving record

Reside in geographic vicinity of the territory

Education and/or Work Experience:

  • Two years of experience in foodservice and/or foodservice sales or marketing
  • Experience in developing leads and researching potential clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make presentations
  • Interpersonal skills and comfort with meeting new people on a daily basis
  • Familiarity with relevant software, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to contact customers, complete sales and manage other tasks independently
  • Time management and prioritization skills to meet deadlines and close sales in a timely manner
  • Willingness to adapt and implement new marketing strategies and sales methods
  • Quick thinking to provide creative solutions that address customers' needs and concerns
  • HS Diploma or equivalent,

Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Relevant Skills:

  • Must have very strong urgency in meeting objectives and deadlines.
  • Requires the ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Ability to complete tasks under standardized situations with occasional variables.
  • Must be a strategic thinker, inquisitive, innovative, and creative to build relationships, network, link resources and apply business practices
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and display integrity and honesty to participate and contribute to region team efforts
  • Must be goal driven, have good organizational and administration skills to self-manage and develop discipline and be flexible and coachable

Must be able to meet and exceed sales performance goals and execute good time and territory management

Physical Requirements:

  • Drive personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions, company meetings, etc.
  • Lift/carry laptop and sales materials weighing up to 40 lbs., to and from office, home, car, and customer locations.
  • Must be able to constantly bend, reach above shoulder, grasp objects, climb, kneel, squat, twist, and stand.

Regular contact with public, customer representatives, and vendors

Work Environment:

  • Work hours may vary, or change based on department requirements.
  • Daily driving
  • Multiple customer location environments, i.e.: independent restaurants, institutions, chains, etc.

The job is primarily performed in a mobile environment that can be ever changing

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Perform all duties as listed in the job description and for following Company policy and procedures.
  • Obtain goals and objectives as outlined in the job description and as determined by the Operations Manager.

Maintain good and effective working relationships among Company personnel, customers, vendors, and brokers.
