Summary:

A Caring Alternative is seeking a Housing Specialist to join an established Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT). ACTT is a team dedicated to reducing and eliminating the symptoms of severe mental illness and to enhance the individual's quality of life. The Housing Specialist is responsible for assisting individuals in obtaining safe, decent, and affordable housing that follows his or her preferences in level of independence and location consistent with evidence-based Supportive Housing Model.

Job Duties include:

• Locate housing options with a focus on integrated independent settings
• Apply for housing subsidies and housing programs
• Assist individuals in developing amicable relationships with local landlords
• Provide tenancy support and advocacy for the individual's tenancy rights at the individuals home at least monthly
• Participate in community based team approach that utilizes resources of the community, consumers, and treatment team to achieve positive consumer outcomes.

Education and Experience Required:

• A bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Special Education, or other closely related Human Services area
• Two (2) years of professional experience with the adult mental healthpopulation
• Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Resume must include degree earned (major & minor), graduation month & year, relevant employment dates including month and year, and populations served.

A Caring Alternative, LLC is CABHA certified and a Trauma Informed Agency. We provide an array of services to Alexander, Buncombe, Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, Iredell, McDowell, and Mitchell counties which consist of Assertive Community Treatment Team, Community Support Team, Day Treatment, Integrated Care, Intensive In-Home, Medication Management, Outpatient Therapy, and Therapeutic Foster Care.
