Direct Support Professional
A-1 Nursing Care seeks a reliable direct support professional to work with an individual in Gahanna Ohio 43230. We strive to help assist our clients in staying as independent as possible while living in the environment of their choice. Individual's Needs: The best caregivers enjoy being active with them in the community. Individual would need assistance with community activities, household tasks and appointments and grocery shopping.
Location: Westerville, OH 43081
Schedule: Mondays 10-2:00, Wednesdays 1-5:00, and Fridays 10-2:00

Primary Duties May Include:
- Help with increasing independence and improving adaptive skills
- Assist clients with general housekeeping tasks
- Overall assist with helping the client have a full life
- Provide transportation (if possible)
- Good comprehension of the English language, including reading and writing
- Ability to be able to lift around 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to be able to focus on multiple tasks at one time and have attention to detail
- Prior Home Health Aide/Direct Care Professional experience is a plus
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Calm and patient disposition
- Experience with de-escalation in clients who might experience mania from time to time
- Willingness to work with a behaviorist to address an individualized Behavior Plan
- Ability to create a daily planner with the individual
- Vigilance in keeping the individual away from social media
- Ability to oversee in nutritious lunch preparation, laundry, cleaning his room & bathroom, and daily vigorous exercise (we have an exercise room in our home)
- Experience with autism is not required, but could be helpful
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
