A Receiving Supervisor is responsible for maintaining inventory counts and quality control procedures for incoming shipments.

The Supervisor duties include unloading delivery trucks and checking incoming shipments against product invoices, organizing, and storing shipments until they receive outgoing order requests and notifying management personnel when they don’t have enough of a particular product to fulfill orders.

Essential duties and functions

  • Coordinate forklift operator’s day and night shift for Receiving lumber department.
  • Coordinate activities with operator for Holtec machine.
  • Approve PQS certification for forklift and Holtect operators.
  • Control and keep record of supplies, get the requisition, and provide documentation to purchasing department.
  • Receiving department will be in control of all the shop, office, and maintenance supplies.
  • Write and document processes for the department. All process most approved by the Director of Operations.
  • Coordinate and execute monthly inventory.
  • Keep record of daily operations.
  • Coordinate day and night shift activities.
  • Ensure that all the receiving team operates safely.
  • Coordinate rotation of materials and keep the FIFO process in place.

Receiving Process (non-lumber)

  • Select a location for Receiving of goods – suggest establishing an area in the Maintenance building (B)
  • Select and section off a secure area for receiving goods to temporarily stage / hold / sort packages
  • Display notice on office front door for all deliveries (other than lumber) to go to building B to new receiving location.
  • Clearly mark new receiving drop off location (sign on building, desk, etc) so it is clear for the delivery service of where to bring packages
  • Make it known that ONLY Receiving personnel will collect & sign for the packages from the delivery service(s) and is position will be responsible for the following, prior to signing for package:
  1. Check number of packages against delivery notice to be sure Qty matches
  2. Inspect packages for damage / missing packages / etc and note any damages/variances with the delivery service prior to signing for packages and prior to them leaving grounds
  3. Verify that any variances are noted on the delivery persons paperwork prior to them leaving
  • Match items delivered to packing slip to confirm quantities/item numbers/descriptions.
  • Check off each item/sign & date delivery notice/packing slip
  • Report any discrepancies / damages to Purchasing immediately
  • Close package and secure - clearly label who package is meant for and what department (end user)
  • Deliver package to end user (or arrange for them to pick up from designated receiving location)
  • Have end user sign the packing slip that they’ve received / picked up the package
  • **Bring signed delivery notice / packing slip to Purchasing
  • **Purchasing will receive goods in e-Fraxion according to packing slip/delivery notice
  • **Packing slip will be scanned and uploaded to specific PO(s) in e-Fraxion
  • AP will then be able to match invoice to receipts entered thru e-Fraxion and process invoices for payment

3-5 years’ construction and/or manufacturing environment.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a manufacturing site environment or in a climate-controlled shared office environment space.

Physical Demands:

Prolonged periods of standing, walking through the production site, and sitting at a desk working on a computer.

Mental capacity to manage stressful workloads.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Visual acuity to inspect product and machinery.
