92nd Street Y is Hiring an Utility Worker Near New York, NY

Job Summary:

The May Center Utility Worker is responsible for performing all cleaning duties, routine light equipment cleaning/storage/transport, and other tasks to create a spotless and fully functioning center environment. The May Center Utility Worker will be assigned to a primary area of responsibility of either multiple locker rooms or fitness/athletic venues and equipment, and May Center office areas. The May Center Utility Worker will also be cross-trained in the alternate location.

May Center Utility Workers are responsible for maintaining clean conditions in their assigned venue(s) and will also assist May Center patrons who make use of these venues.

Job Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide a high level of customer service to all May Center patrons.
  • Keep locker room, fitness, athletic and office facilities clean and organized at all times.
  • Keep fresh towels and amenities stocked at all times.
  • Pick up, transport and store dirty towels.
  • Respond to cleaning needs as requested by management.
  • Use cleaning equipment to maintain a clean facility environment.
  • Clean, store, move and adjust fitness equipment.
  • Report broken equipment and other maintenance issues to manager on duty.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Experience, Education, & Skills Desired:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Friendly and outgoing personality with good verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Previous experience as a porter in a fitness, athletic or hospitality setting is a plus.
  • CPR certification preferred. Training will be provided and paid for by 92NY.
Work Environment & Requirements:

40 hours per week, with a 1-hour meal break. Monday- Friday, 5:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Compensation

$38,000

The actual compensation offered will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
