Essential Responsibilities:

Clinical Educator:

  • Provide educational opportunities that benefit nurses at all stages of their career development.
  • Assist learners in assessing needs and identifying outcomes, incorporating principles of adult learning.
  • Identify and evaluate high-quality, culturally diverse instructional materials in various media and formats.
  • Adjust content and teaching strategies to meet learner needs.

Program and Curriculum Development / Evaluation:

  • Develop, design, evaluate, and manage professional development programs fostering competence in the nursing staff.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of educational activities to ensure professional development enhancement.
  • Develop and coordinate education plans related to orientation, competency validation, and core education for patient population-specific nursing care.

Clinical Practice Standards:

  • Respond to changes in nursing practice/nursing theory, developing programs to support those changes.
  • Conduct research into professional and community practice standards, technology, clinical informatics, and clinical innovations for improved patient care.

Clinical Informatics Expert:

  • Ensure HealthConnect (KPHC) is leveraged for the benefit of nursing practice and improved patient care systems and processes.
  • Assess opportunities to support clinical practices through the use of KPHC by analyzing clinical workflow.

Clinical Practice and Informatics Interface:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in Nursing and Healthcare Informatics.
  • Consult staff and leadership in areas of clinical expertise and provide information on current clinical practice.
  • Ensure optimization efforts are identified and implemented to support clinical decision-making for high-quality and safe patient care.

Partnerships / Leadership Duties:

  • Participate in interdisciplinary committees to integrate educational activities into clinical care.
  • Address KPHC and workflow issues through Regional Domains, local Domains, and Cross-Functional Domain.
  • Provide leadership for clinical IT enhancements.

Oversight:

  • Provide investigation, recommendation, prioritization, and evaluation of clinical risk and correction plans.
  • Monitor, track, and follow up on concerns/issues, escalating patient safety issues with workflow disruptions.
  • Ensure education programs meet budget guidelines.

Strategic Communication:

  • Maintain flexibility when managing multiple roles and responsibilities.
  • Interpret and communicate across multiple disciplines, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Nursing earned through a direct entry MSN.
  • Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in HealthConnect (KPHC) and expertise in workflows.
  • National Certification required within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum six (6) months of experience coordinating or managing education program/curriculum design, development, and evaluation/assessment preferred.
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in Nursing preferred.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Willingness to update/engage in teaching and updating skills for other nurses in OR.
  • CNOR and MSN preferred, not required..

Additional Variable Compensation:

  • Eligible for sign-on bonus.
  • Eligible for annual merit increase and annual bonus.
