Responsible for determining the procurement and flow of both raw and finished goods throughout the company’s operation. Identify and buy necessary items for the organization’s business activities, based on the company and sales strategy and sales forecast provided by Sales. This person will have an eye for detail and retain awareness of the products and portfolio, as well as be aware of pricing and quality for each supplier. This role will be responsible for providing cost savings to the company by making appropriate purchasing decisions, utilizing scale opportunities based on demand and sales data, impacting inventory levels, negotiating price, and ensuring quality. This role will also include ensuring accurate inventory, both internally and at external locations, and receiving and putting away inventory as it comes in. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and will understand prioritization of SKU’s based on popularity among customers, as well as prices and quality of different suppliers. You are responsible for increasing the company’s profitability by making the most appropriate purchases, based upon demand, inventory levels, price, and quality. Primary Responsibilities:
Manage and optimize inventory levels across the network by actively monitoring inventory on hand (both raw materials and finished product), receiving, in-transit, and forecasted demand, while factoring in supply chain lead times, sales forecasts and product life cycles.
Review historical trends, identify demand drivers, understand and evaluate forecasting data in an effort to proactively manage inventory and plan to ensure no Out Of Stocks.
Monitor inventory levels and develop purchasing strategies that will result in controlling inventory and serve to reduce costs to the organization.
Interact with production, suppliers, shipping/receiving and sales to perform root cause issues and subsequent action plans.
Identify risks and opportunities and resolve constraints by actively negotiating across demand and suppliers.
Receiving of inventory as part of the PO tracking and virtual “Putting Away” of the inventory in the warehouse
Generating Transfer Orders, Work Orders and Routing when needed
Completing tasks on time with high quality. In doing this, the expectation is that work may need to be done outside of core business hours.
As this is a critical role for the company, constant awareness of updates, issues and actions must be tracked in a “just in time” way of working.
Necessary Skill Sets: Proactively communicate both current status and ideas concisely to a wide variety of stake holders
Possesses a pioneering spirit, willing to “get your hands dirty” in a start-up environment while simultaneously developing processes and delivering results
Manage relationships with key partners and suppliers, internal and external, to maintain quality of goods timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts.
Pull and assess data to develop strategies and plans for maintaining inventory. Data analysis skills are critical to develop the stories that will drive actions.
Clearly define data requirements and metrics that measure success of this process, getting to a 90% service level and “right the first time”, at all times.
Prepare and discuss monthly status on purchasing, inventory levels and demand/sales status to Core Leadership Team.
Create and maintain, organized records and supplier profiles within NetSuite.
High Attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
Responsible spending, staying within budget and building a culture of long-term savings with procurement.
Qualifications:
Strong analytical skills.
Experience and expertise working within Oracle’s NetSuite ERP.
Thoroughly understands the business and can interpret how seasonality, promotional activity, new product and new customer introductions impact demand.
Proven, successful work experience as a Purchasing Agent and or Demand Planner.
Strong command of Microsoft Excel; able to fully utilize formulas, calculations, graphing tools, pivot tables and a macro programming.
Good organizational skills.
Talent in negotiations.
Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with multi-tasking and dealing with frequent change.
Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in teams and across all functional disciplines.
Ability to be self-motivated and disciplined, while also being proactive and a problem solver
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree – Business Administration, Operations, Engineering or related field (prefer Supply Chain field of study)
5 years in the field of Demand Planning and/or Purchasing
