Job Description/Responsibilities:

We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Developer with a strong proficiency in Postgres SQL to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for migrating mainframe applications and databases to Postgres SQL, ensuring seamless transition and optimal performance. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand existing mainframe systems, design efficient migration strategies, and implement solutions that meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze existing mainframe applications and databases to identify components eligible for migration to Postgres SQL.

Design and implement migration strategies, considering data integrity, security, and performance requirements.

Develop and optimize SQL queries, scripts, and procedures to facilitate data migration and transformation.

Collaborate with application developers and system architects to integrate Postgres SQL into existing software solutions.

Perform thorough testing and validation of migrated data and applications to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for migrated systems, addressing any performance or compatibility issues.

Document migration processes, configurations, and best practices for knowledge sharing and future reference.

Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in mainframe and database management to continuously improve migration processes.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Proven experience as a Mainframe Developer with expertise in COBOL, DB2, and VSAM.

Strong proficiency in Postgres SQL, including database design, optimization, and administration.

Experience with data migration tools and techniques, preferably in a mainframe environment.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
