3Rivers Federal Credit Union is Hiring a Payroll Specialist Near Fort Wayne, IN

TEAM: SUPPORT RESOURCE CENTER: TALENT EXPERIENCE BAND: 3

POSITION SUMMARY

The Payroll Specialist manages the complete payroll process to ensure team members are accurately onboaded and receive their pay in an efficient, accurate and timely manner. Ensures that mandatory and voluntary withholdings and deductions are accurately calculated and reported. Assists employees or managers with questions about payroll policies and pay discrepancies. Transmits payroll files for processing and maintains payroll related files and records. Assists in the preparation of year end W-2s or other related tax filings or reports. Completes new hire setup in payroll systems and off boards team members when they leave. Administers surveys and pre-employment screenings. Conducts Jira administration, ensuring questions are responded to in a timely manner, either by them self or by forwarding to a SME. This position gathers & analyzes payroll & other HR data for use in HR, financial reporting, & regulatory reporting for 3Rivers. The Payroll Specialist position insures compliance with legal and corporate guidelines, which include FLSA, FMLA, workman’s compensation claims, payroll and other HR related functions.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Execution: What does this position do?
Actively engages in sharing imagined alternative, participates in evaluating/creating solutions, and implements solutions within their own work processes. Responsible for payroll processing, Jira administration, surveys, people movement including on & off boarding and pre-employment administrative work for recruiting. Provides assistance and support to team members within areas of knowledge as well as providing solutions that are beneficial to both internal and external members. Identifies & corrects/solves errors & problems as they arise.
Collaboration: Who does this position work with to get the job done?
Routinely collaborates with all resource centers to ensure that decisions are consistent with the strategic vision. Maintain communications with Team Members during the problem resolution process and partners with Resource Centers as needed. Uses questions to discover the answer to gain a new perspective. Uses intuitive listening to assist team members with inquiries and problem resolution.
Productivity: What does the work from this position produce or generate?
Resolves problems using available tools and following procedures and policies to support Team3. Evaluates and manages systems to ensure they operate at peak performance for team members and membership. Creates a team member experience that mirrors our business model in providing engaged and willing assistance to others throughout 3Rivers. Identifies efficiencies through process changes and technology utilization. Affects change(s) based on understanding of root cause.
Recognizes anomalies and reconciles disputes while demonstrating a commitment to excellent service. Assists managers and team members by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions and implementing selected solution.

Supplies important information & analysis to decision makers directly impacting the quality of decisions made at 3Rivers, both strategic & tactical. Provides timely and accurate documentation support to ensure efficiency. Impacts the Measures that Matter through positive employee engagement while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action. Uses technology to its fullest extent and leverages technical support when needed to either capture a trend, enhance performance or solution a problem.

Must be able to handle ever-changing member/team member needs in a constantly-changing and sometimes stressful environment. Knowledge Requirements
  • Knowledge of FLSA, EEO, Affirmative Action, FMLA and any other HR related laws
  • Knowledge of general human resource concepts
  • Knowledge of payroll and report writer software
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to identify and coordinate the resolution of payroll problems and inaccuracies.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and analysis skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style, content, and format for varying circumstances and audiences of all levels and functional areas.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software
  • Willingness and ability to learn on the job
  • Ability to analyze work flow and develop procedural modifications
  • Ability to establish & maintain positive working relationships with management, peers, employees & vendors
  • Adheres to all federal, state and credit union regulations and policies.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources or Business with some concentration in HR and/or 1 year experience in HR-related, payroll administration work, preferred
