Working Arrangement Hybrid Job Description Accountable for planning, directing and completing audits of all types (key risk audits, key risk reviews, defined procedures, project risk reviews, Sarbanes-Oxley controls testing and other special projects) and the delivery of high quality, professional, cost-effective, value-added and risk-based audit services for retail wealth-related business functions in the US and Europe. The Managermay have direct responsibility for one or more projects at the same time and may perform hands-on audit work to complete the project. Additionally, the Manager has a strong influence on the development of staff and senior auditors. Responsibilities Build effective relationships with the business, specifically for the US and Europe Retail Wealth and US Retirement. Plan and lead audit projects and report to the director and AVP on progress. Manage projects within time resource budgets and target dates, reporting any timing problems or budget variances to Director and AVP. Understand the risks being managed by business unit; develop audit scope and audit programs to evaluate the controls in place to mitigate these risks. Lead audit staff assisting on projects including reviewing completed files to ensure quality of work completed, and adherence to department and IIA standards. Prepare clear, concise and well-organized audit reports, including executive summary and rating of adequacy of risk management, and issue reports within departmental service standards. Present findings and recommendations to business unit management; resolve contentious issues and reach agreement on appropriate solutions. Follow-up on and track open audit issues until resolved. Provide on the job training and feedback to staff assisting on assignments and contribute to their development and performance appraisals. Use technology including data analytic techniques to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the audit process. Coordinate work required to complete annual SOX and MAR testing in collaboration with Management, SOX/MAR PMO and CCOEs, and the External Auditors. How will you create impact? The Audit Manager will report to the Director, Audit Services. The role provides value by working within a team to improve the management of risks and controls from an objective viewpoint. The function provides added value service and finds opportunities to strengthen controls, and contributes to the achievement of Manulife's business objectives. What we are looking for Knowledge and understanding of Internal Audit professional standards, control frameworks, risk management practices, and regulatory requirements. Minimum of 5 – 7 years of progressive work experience. Experience in Internal/External Auditing or equivalent business experience is beneficial. University degree. A relevant professional designation (CA, CPA, CIA, CISA, CISSP, etc.) is beneficial. Good working knowledge of risks within the financial services industry and regulations. Experience in using data analytics to improve audit coverage and efficiency of audit processes. Thorough understanding of business processes and their risk implications, analyze complex situations, reach appropriate conclusions, and make valuable and practical recommendations. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate ideas and recommendations orally and in writing, and to listen and consider ideas of others. Ability to balance multiple priorities and projects and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and direct the work and development of others. Commitment to quality and results oriented. Innovative thinking and commitment to continuous improvement to enhance quality of audit work and efficiencies in audit processes. Experience in working in an agile environment (e.g. agile auditing, agile projects) is beneficial. Good understanding of technology and its impact on business risks. What can we offer you?
