Department: 36325 Aurora West Allis Medical Center - Mammography: Aurora Womens Health Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: First shift, M-F Major Responsibilities: Assists Manager with orientation and training of personnel within area of operation as needed. May participate in the interviewing process, making recommendations for hiring. Completes performance appraisals as delegated by manager. Provides feedback on an ongoing basis to others. Initiates corrective discipline in a consistent and objective manner in collaboration with the manager. Interacts with, fosters teamwork, and develops a vision for the care of women with breast disease and breast care needs with other staff within the region to ensure a consistent standard approach. Develops, implements and coordinates Breast Care and Osteoporosis Programs as applicable per site. Integrates breast care services with other departments, COEs, and ambulatory sites. Educates health care providers, hospital staff, and the public about the Breast Care Program. Personalizes approach to women with breast disease/breast care needs to maximize service management. Tracks the patient through the SLMC system to ensure timeliness of testing and diagnostic reports. Guides women with suspected breast abnormalities through the diagnostic phase. Provides for continuity of care by ensuring smooth transitions between care settings. Tracks patient along illness trajectory. Collaborates with staff to challenge other practices and synthesizes research findings to develop optimal systems, which achieve the most effective patient/family outcomes. Coordinates with community based agencies around Breast Cancer initiatives. Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Quality Assurance programs, which include evaluation of costs, patient care, customer satisfaction, and radiation safety in all areas of responsibility. Utilizes data to enhance practices. Analyzes variances in standard treatment guidelines for women with breast disease to improve quality and efficiency, control costs, and provide a systematic approach to the patient's total care. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices. Education Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing. Experience Required: Typically requires 2 years of experience in Nursing. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Able to demonstrate practice at the proficient or expert level of the MCPDM. In-depth knowledge of issues and treatment related to women with breast cancer. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: May be exposed to the following hazards during the course of the workday: blood and body fluids, radiation, chemical, electrical, and mechanical. Will be required to wear protective clothing such as gloves, goggles, and gowns as needed. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist throughout the workday. Must have functional sight and hearing. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job. Exposed to a normal office environment. This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent.
