The Representative works with the Director and Advisory Team to fulfill the FCA Vision, pursue the FCA Mission and live the FCA Values by implementing the ministry plan for the assigned area. In the FCA Sports Environments, the Representative ensures there is a consistent approach to discipleship - making disciples who make disciples. The Representative is accountable for ensuring that the FCA ministry is conducted according to biblical standards and adheres to FCA policies and procedures.

MINISTERIAL DUTIES

These responsibilities are critical to the FCA mission and this position plays a vital role in our ministry. FCA expects all functions and responsibilities outlined below to be carried out with a heart surrendered to serving God as a form of worship.

  • Agree with, and abide by, FCA's Christian Community Statement.
  • Follow a spiritual rhythm including daily prayer and Bible study to seek the Lord's will for FCA.
  • Lead, conduct and provide spiritual leadership for staff, volunteers, coaches and athletes through prayer, Bible study, worship and living by example so they are equipped to serve others.
  • Connect to and participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement.
  • Conduct yourself in a manner that affirms biblical standards of conduct in accordance with FCA's Christian beliefs (see FCA's Christian Community Statement) at all times.

MINISTRY ADVANCEMENT

  • Engage, equip, and empower coaches and athletes by ministering through 1-on-1s, Huddles and Events.
  • Train and equip staff and volunteers to empower coaches and athletes to be disciples who make disciples in the Sports Environments.

TALENT ADVANCEMENT

  • Oversee recruiting, training and developing effective and diverse volunteers who lead everycoach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
    • Recruit: Actively attract and recruit highly qualified volunteers to the Sports Environments.
    • Train: Provide tools, resources and training to develop volunteers' skills and increasetheir capacity and competence to effectively execute their responsibilities.
    • Develop: Prepare volunteers in their roles and responsibilities by helping them growspiritually and personally.

BOARD ADVANCEMENT

  • Invite, involve, and invest in an Advisory Team that is committed to pray, serve, and give.

DONOR ADVANCEMENT
  • Connect, communicate, and care for existing and prospective financial partners to get fully funded.
  • Manage and steward the finances for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Establish and execute an annual budget and funding plan by growing the Home Team, majordonors, and events.
INTERNATIONAL ADVANCEMENT
  • Work with the Director to serve the aligned International Region by praying, giving and going.

Requirements:

We are looking for individuals who will be primarily responsible to develop and lead a team of volunteers that accomplish FCA's vision and mission throughout a set geographic area within a county. The growing interest in bringing character and spiritual development back into sports makes this an exciting time for FCA. We are thriving and through Area Representatives are able to build stronger relationships by engaging, equipping, and empowering coaches and athletes, fulfilling the mission. The Area Representative is vital to helping us serve every coach and every athlete.

Requirements of the Role

  • Your default setting is to be proactive and self-motivated. This is a position for someone who is comfortable getting out there with confidence, creating relationships, and proactively helping people.
  • You bring strong discipleship skills. A track record of intentional discipleship is a requirement of this roll.
  • You are able to develop leaders, through engaging, equipping, and empowering coaches, athletes, and volunteers in your athletic community.
  • You have the ability to work independently. Self-motivation and discipline are critical for success at FCA.
  • You are willing and able to get others to invest in you financially. This is a missionary funded position, meaning you are responsible for raising the funds that are required for your salary, benefits, and ministry expenses. You see fundraising as part of the ministry, not just a way to support it.
  • You are connected. You are actively involved in your community. Can you come up with a list of 150 individuals that you can't wait to sit down with and tell about what you are doing with FCA?
  • You are professional. Skills such as work ethic, verbal tone, writing proficiency and communication are vital. A joyful disposition, tenacity in follow up, and an ownership mindset are all critical for success.
  • You have a significant athletic background. You have experience with participating in and being involved with the athletic community.
  • You practice what you preach. If God isn't working in you, He cannot work through you. You have a history of a strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. This is crucial to success in this role.
  • You're coachable. You have an open spirit and a posture towards learning and development.

Note

This is a full-time position and must be your top professional priority. The Area Representative position is a fully-committed calling to the ministry of FCA and is not designed to be a secondary position to another role or ministry. Prayerfully consider if you are called to be fully committed to becoming a long-term member of the FCA team. The timeline of when you start full-time ministry depends on your commitment and success with support raising. All FCA field positions are required to raise their operating expenses (salary, benefits, internet, etc.) through donations. FCA provides top-notch support raising training and will work with you on a plan to help you get funded.
