Position Highlights: Position: Registered Nurse, Ambulatory Surgery Location: Glenbrook Hospital Full Time/Part Time: Full-time, 36hrs/week Available shifts: Rotating Required Travel: Must be willing to travel to other NorthShore sites Description The ASU/PACU Registered Nurse is accountable for providing high-quality, individualized, goal-directed care for patients of all age levels and their families throughout the Perioperative continuum of care: Pre-op, PACU phase I, and PACU phase II. License/Certification Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse Licensure American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification AHA ACLS preferred (must obtain within 6 months of hire) AHA PALS preferred (must obtain within 6 months of hire) CPAN/CAPA certification preferred Education/Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of nursing BSN preferred At least one year of experience as a staff nurse ASC, Pre-op, PACU, ICU, Telemetry, Acute Care inpatient surgical nursing preferred Demonstrates mastery of nursing skills Communicates effectively and is able to guide non-nursing personnel Primary Functions Demonstrates a commitment to the mission of NorthShore University HealthSystem Exhibits service orientation and adheres to the responsibilities and standards of the hospital Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate the delivery of nursing care to patients and their families Maintains competency reflective of current practice standards Interacts and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of nursing practice Integrates evidence-based practice and research findings into nursing practice Recognizes and adjusts to situations that vary from the norm Promotes safety measures to prevent patient and staff injuries Guides and supervises staff in the provision of patient care Enhances own professional growth and development Maintains a safe, therapeutic working environment and recognizes need for action in emergency situations Documentation is thoroughly and timely completed Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promoting high-quality patient experience NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health is a fully integrated healthcare delivery system committed to providing access to quality, vibrant, community-connected care, serving an area of more than 4.2 million residents across six northeast Illinois counties.
