As an Audio-Visual Engineer based in our Durham office, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions that meet our clients' requirements. Proactively, you will assume the responsibility for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of advanced audio and visual systems. Your expertise in audiovisual technologies and your ability to lead complex projects will be instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of our clients' objectives. Key Accountabilities: Lead the design, configuration, and installation of complex audiovisual systems, including audio, video and control systems. Collaborate with Stakeholders and members of Data & Technology to understand project requirements and design custom solutions to meet their needs. Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, including system design, equipment selection, integration, and commissioning. Collaborate with vendors and manage procurement activities, including equipment sourcing, negotiations, and vendor relationships. Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to audio-visual equipment, systems, and infrastructure. Engaging in routine maintenance activities, including software updates, equipment calibration, and preventive maintenance. Providing technical support and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders. Collaborating with clients, event organizers, and technicians to ensure seamless execution of audio-visual requirements and resolving any issues promptly. Conducting thorough testing and quality checks of audio-visual systems, including audio and video signals, connectivity, control systems, projection, and sound quality. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. Creating detailed documentation, system diagrams, and technical specifications. Providing training and knowledge transfer to team members and end-users on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio-visual systems. Staying up to date with the latest audio-visual technologies, industry trends, and emerging standards. Identifying opportunities for system improvements, suggesting upgrades, and evaluating new equipment or software to enhance system performance. Leading audio-visual projects, including planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and budget management. Ensuring projects are executed within defined timelines, meeting customer requirements and quality standards. Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while handling audio-visual equipment, ensuring compliance with electrical codes, fire safety regulations, and occupational health guidelines. Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost optimizations, and efficiency enhancements. Engaging in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in audio-visual engineering. Ability to travel to office locations / live events approximately 10% of the time. Knowledge and Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in voice and video and AV technologies, which can be a combination of experience in Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype for business, telecommunications & network engineering. Experience in advanced AV hardware configuration, design, AV project management and/or leadership. Experience in running large auditorium style broadcast events working with AV equipment, troubleshooting signal flows, and live system operations. Proven experience in designing and implementing advanced audiovisual systems, with a focus on large-scale commercial installations. Solid understanding of audiovisual technologies and their integration with various systems, including codecs, displays, switchers, and control interfaces. In-depth knowledge of industry standards and best practices, including audiovisual signal flow, cabling, and control protocols. Proficiency in using audio measurement and calibration equipment and software. Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and deliver them within agreed-upon timelines and budgets. Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and vendors. Education: College/University degree in a relevant technical area (Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering) or equivalent experience.
