Job Purpose

Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products, maintaining gages and recording quality results. All the essential functions of this job description apply to the metal mechanic industry processes - Included but not limited to welding, laser, press break and stamping. 

Essential Functions

• Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
• Approves in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
• Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, confirming re-work.
• Fill out job travelers, time sheets, inspection documents and any other paperwork associated with the part.
• Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, inputting data into quality database.
• Check parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using proper gauges.
• Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions, calling for repairs and maintaining records of calibrations and maintain up to date calibration on all tools .
• Maintains all quality charts and graphs that display company goals for internal rejects, external rejects and on-time delivery.
• Maintains all quality records such as PPAP’s FAI’s Etc.
• Ensure welders are certified for the projects they are working on.
• Maintain welder certification records.
• Reevaluate welders when required to maintain their certification.
• Create and maintain training folders for each employee.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures.
• Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled with a positive attitude.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Non-Essential Duties

• Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
• Assists in formulating departmental strategic plan.
• Serves as a member of various employee and organizational committees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Willingness to attend training classes as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must own tools supply for daily tasks (i.e. micrometers, calipers, edge finders, etc.)
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and work order instructions.
• Must be fork lift certified and understand all safety rules and procedures in proper use of lifts.
• Must have a working knowledge of computers.
• Must have basic math skills.
• Must be able to take verbal and written instructions and work from handmade sketches.
• Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a fastpace work environment to meet team expectations.

Working Conditions

Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.

Equipment/Machinery Used

Forklift, calipers, all types measuring equipment, CMM, FARO arm

Physical Requirements

Lifting up to 50lbs, pushing, pulling, climbing and balancing frequent stooping, kneeling, and standing for long periods of time, enhanced manual dexterity, vision protection and other appropriate protective clothing.
