Job Description Summary Provides overall environmental program oversight and strategic direction for the platform. Works with Health, Safety, and Security to develop and implement the platform’s EHSS Management System. Drives technical solutions and provides leadership and direction for environmental aspects of company operations. In partnership with the business, builds consensus for aspirational environmental goals, and champions the innovative thinking and approaches required to achieve those goals. Partners with the sustainability leader to promote and devise strategies to meet sustainable development program goals and objectives and achieve results. Oversees corporate environmental staff. Job Description Position Responsibilities People Development Responsibilities Professional coaching/mentoring Alignment/standardization Trains and/or supports Plant Managers (PMs), and environmental staff Works with PMs to develop facility environmental staff to next level Takes on and/or assigns special projects to environmental staff Directs environmental staff internal performance improvement opportunities Program Responsibilities Represents LW internally & externally as ENV subject matter expert Understands the state of the art, emerging trends and best practices in the environmental field. Benchmarks LW’s ENV performance and systems with other companies. Positions LW as an industry leader by engaging with key stakeholders externally and by speaking at conferences Represents LW at professional/industry associations Develop strategic objectives for LW’s environmental program and helps guide the environmental portion of the EHSS Journey Map Environmental Management System (EMS) oversight: Develops LW corporate policies/stds (expectations) Keeper and maintainers of corporate ENV stds/tools/policies Facilitates and oversees ENV audit process Monitors & communicates impending regulatory changes; leverages governmental affairs and legal support, as necessary Oversees and maintains the platform-wide ENV risk register Develop and communicate proactive ENV KPIs Analyzes environmental data to identify trends and areas of potential risk reduction. Prepares periodic reports / dashboards summarizing platform environmental performance Provides overall direction for ENV performance Analyzes ENV data/info to identify trends & potential areas for risk reduction Implements ENV management software Develops and supports links between Environmental, Health/Safety and Security Functions Retains/project manages ENV consultants across the business, as needed Targets objectives at each site (builds consensus with PMs) Environmental engineering/capital planning: Work with corporate and plant ENV/engineering resources to develop the annual ENV capital plan Work with corporate and plant ENV/engineering resources to identify potential ENV impacts from capital investment projects as well as R&M projects (i.e. Early Management/VSU) Supports sustainable development initiatives and goals Supports facility environmental staff in permitting processes and dealings with regulators Basic & Preferred Qualifications Position Qualifications Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelor of Science Degree (Engineering, Biology or Chemistry); Masters in Engineering or Science desired; Licensed Professional Engineer or related professional certification desired; 12 years progressive experience in the environmental/engineering field; Expert knowledge of all environmental regulations, rulemaking, and their impact on the food industry; Good leadership skills; Good training and presentation skills; Experience with the EHSS aspects of acquisitions/divestitures, especially ENV due diligence; Experience with developing engineering scope for new equipment to fulfill compliance needs; Demonstrated experience implementing management systems, audits and improvement processes across many facilities. Leadership / development / implementation of a corporate EHSS or ENV management systems is required; Track record of leading and facilitating strong performance across a business unit or enterprise. Multi-site ENV leadership experience is required. ENV Equipment Operation and Technology: Expert knowledgeable of operational practices for environmental control systems on water supply, wastewater, air pollution and solid waste. Provide expertise to plant operators to successfully manage and operate equipment to meet permit requirements. Understanding of food processing sanitation and quality control needs in manufacturing consumer food products. Physical Demands: Ability to work in office environment, manufacturing operations and environmental control systems. Ability to represent Lamb Weston on environmental matters to outside stakeholders. Position will require ability to travel as needed to fulfill responsibilities. Annual travel may range up to 50%.
