Please note this posting will be utilized to hire for multiple recruitments. The Financial Specialist will be responsible for accurate and timely billing of all department services. This position will focus on payor follow up, claim management, remittance payment posting and credit management with the primary goal of recognizing potential high risk accounts and resolving issues in order to maximize County’s revenues. As the Medical Billing Specialist, you will: Work primarily in the Epic Resolute practice management system Manage payor claim edit credit, rejection, and denial work queues Payment post health insurance remittances/explanation of payments (electronically and manually) Answer and resolve patient billing inquiries through the customer service phone line File corrected payor claims and appeals Participate in special non-routine billing projects to correct significant system or payor related issues Diversity and Inclusion: At Multnomah County, we don't just accept difference; we value it and support it to create a culture of dignity and respect for our employees. Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: Equivalent to an Associate's degree in accounting or finance Two years of progressively responsible technical accounting support experience This position requires a working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Specialty payors and reimbursement processes; this position requires working knowledge of medical terminology or familiarity with Current Procedural Terminology/(CPT), dental procedure codes (CDT) and International Classification of Diagnosis (ICD10) codes; this position requires working knowledge of Epic Resolute. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. As with all routine telework positions, employees may be required to come into the office on occasion. The designation of Routine Telework may be subject to change at a future time. All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the county cannot support ongoing telework from other locations. The onsite work location for this position is the Gladys McCoy Building located at 619 NW 6th Avenue Portland, OR 97209.
