The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Planning & Research Unit (P&R) is looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to join their team. In this role, you will play a critical part in advancing MCSO’s Data & Reporting Initiative (DRI) through the development of business intelligence solutions that drive strategy and inform operations. You will produce high-impact, high-visibility dashboards and reports that drive operational efficiency and provide insight to all divisions in the Sheriff’s Office: Executive, Business Services, Corrections Facilities, Agency Services, and Law Enforcement. Your primary responsibilities would include: Conceptualize, develop, and implement reporting solutions using business intelligence tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.). Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan new business intelligence projects or modifications to existing ones. Collaborate with units throughout the Sheriff’s Office to translate business needs into analytic and reporting strategies that enable data-informed decision making; conduct requirements gathering. Fully automate reporting deliverables using various technologies including scheduled jobs, database objects, file transfers, and web services. Research and document solutions to potential data quality issues; perform data audits, reviews, and validation to ensure data integrity. Provide technical support and assistance to users; develop and deliver training; troubleshoot issues and resolve problems; track issues and document solutions. Perform other duties as assigned. To Qualify: We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Please be clear and specific about how your background is relevant. Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Additional qualifying experience may be considered as a substitute for education on a year for year basis. Minimum of one (1) year experience in developing BI applications and solutions. Must pass a thorough background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, a review of applicant’s criminal, civil, driving, military, educational, and employment history. Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. Please clearly explain on your application how you meet any of the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills. T-SQL Experience (writing/modifying/deploying/executing T-SQL). Experience with data visualization software, specifically Tableau Desktop, SSRS, and/or PowerBI. Experience or familiarity with Python and ArcGIS. Cross functional collaboration with IT resources on upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance. Experience providing Tableau Server administration (managing users, subscriptions, published data sources). Experience working for a government agency or in a public safety environment. *Transferable skills: Your transferable skills are any skills you have gained through education, work experience (including the military) or life experience that are relevant for this position. Salary: $45.21- $55.60 per hour. Type of Position: Hourly, Local 88 Represented, Non-Exempt. Location: This position has a short onsite training period at the beginning of employment. After the training period, this position is designated as “routine telework,” meaning you will be working remotely (from home); a hybrid schedule also is available. As with all routine telework positions, employees may be required to come into the office on occasion. The designation of Routine Telework may be subject to change at a future time. All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the county cannot support ongoing telework from other locations. The onsite work location for this position is Multnomah Building 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd. Portland, OR 97214. Schedule: Position is full-time (40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts).
