Your Day to Day:

Role Purpose –

The Account Director is primarily responsible for an account portfolio to maximize and drive revenues and market share to IHG brands. Key to this role is creating, evolving and driving telephone/office based relationships and networks with the accounts in their portfolio and to assess and evolve strategies as necessary to increase conversion and revenues. This role also requires the building of a working culture to support the IHG Winning Ways of Doing the Right Thing, Show We Care, Aim Higher, Celebrate Difference and Work Better Together.

Key Accountabilities –

  • Manage and develop portfolio of accounts to maximize market share and revenues;
    • Assess accounts and their opportunities, as a result create account plans as per the IHG template and execute strategies and tactics to drive revenue and market share
    • Network within the accounts to find those key decision makers, their support staff and other relationship opportunities
    • Conduct or participate in client meetings
    • Handle and manage clients’ queries or issues
    • Gather information on current and prospective clients / contacts to generate incremental business
    • Conduct or participate in prospective clients’ interviews
    • Keep an accurate record of all sales calls made for future reference and control purposes in the sales system
  • Ensure accurate Account Profiles and Strategic Account Planning are undertaken throughout the year
  • Work with the appropriate Hotels to ensure clear communication of expectations and goals. For each account, as appropriate, develop a network of support at key hotels ensuring close working relationships with hotel management and sales staff
  • Ensure accurate and timely updating of the provided Sales System
    • Ensure tracking of all relevant activities
    • Update Account and Contact profiles, attach Account plans, ensure ‘live’ information for action
  • Use both account interaction and publicly available tools to monitor competitors' activities, in line with IHG counsel, as it relates to both IHG and the portfolio of accounts and share relevant information with key stakeholders

Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and complete RFP’s and tenders
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Exercises flexibility to perform other duties as required
  • Act as a resource for all on property hotel staff
  • Provides feedback to management on changing market conditions, including trends in competition.
  • Be proactive and responsible for the follow up on new sales leads
  • Include hotel General Managers and sales staff where appropriate on sales calls

What We Need From You:

Education –
Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Marketing, Management, Business, Hospitality or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Critical Expertise & Experience –

  • Demonstrated experience in working in global markets, deep understanding of managing across cultural teams and cultural client interactions
  • Demonstrated sales management experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale sales segment plans from conception through implementation
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff. Must be able to work effectively at board level in client companies, possess strong relationship management skills, and well-developed negotiating and persuading abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hotels and hotel sales & marketing, business planning, etc., along with strong sales ability, sales management, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of competitors’ sales strategies, positions and initiatives
  • Demonstrate a strong commercial acumen and hold a high-level understanding of operating in an owned managed and franchised environment. Experience with franchise organization or ownership constituencies is preferable. International experience or handling accounts with international scope is required
  • Demonstrated computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint AND using sales-related software

The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $140,000. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.

**This job is also eligible for incentive pay.
