Waterfront Coordinator Job Description:

The Waterfront Coordinator is responsible for the safety and well-being of all staff, campers, and volunteers on the waterfront or using waterfront equipment. They will supervise a staff of certified lifeguards and provide relief during open waterfront times. The Waterfront Coordinator is also responsible for planning and implementing waterfront programs including canoeing, kayaking, watersports, and tubing.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Desire and ability to work with children outdoors in a rustic environment 6 days a week
• Previous experience as a lifeguard (A Lifeguard Certification course is offered during staff training if your certification has expired)
• Encourage physical, emotional, and spiritual growth and positive character development of campers and staff
• Able to lead large groups in activities and announcements
• Good character, integrity, maturity, sound judgment, and adaptability; be a positive role model
• Willing and able to live within a close, Episcopal camp community
• High-energy, patience, self-control, and enthusiasm for working with youth
• Model camp policies (functional clothing for kitchen/active work, dry and tobacco free camp during youth camps, etc)
• At least 19 years of age

Specific Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of all waterfront areas and equipment
• Lead weekly swim tests for campers and place them in appropriate swimming level
• Accountable for maintenance, security, and inventory of all boating equipment, lifeguarding equipment, and any other waterfront supplies
• Must keep accurate records in the daily logs for all activities and for condition of all equipment
• Participate in Lifeguard training at camp (whether you have a current ARC certification or not)
• Execute and evaluate weekly lifeguard in service training and evaluations
• Activate and lead the appropriate Emergency Action Plan when necessary
• Lead programming during evening activities
• Lead and maintain a high level of safety in all programming
• Inform Assistant Camp Director of any camper or staff problems, concerns, or issues
• Other duties as assigned

Salary Information: $ per week (starting wage; meals & lodging included)
