PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of HVAC systems, pipework and associated materials and equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues associated with HVAC chill water and refrigerant supplied units.
• Coordinate crane lift equipment replacements onsite with support from the department staff and leadership.
• Always possess and maintain required personal tools and good housekeeping.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain chill water and boiler water supplied air handler units, including coil replacement and actuator upgrades.
• Possess the ability to properly handle and manage campus refrigerant.
• Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blueprints, and written instruction.
• Work from ladders, scaffolds, man lifts to 40’ vertical and roofs to install, maintain or repair HVAC systems along with other maintenance duties.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, such as extended hours or after hours.
• Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
• Train and mentor, the facility staff in all aspects of HVAC mechanical trade.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Texas HVAC Air Conditioning/Refrigeration A or B License. Contractor license is highly preferred. Current Driver’s License
• Minimum of four years of experience supporting primary key position.
• Working during inclement weather, you could be exposed to extreme cold and heat, noise and dust from construction operations depending upon the project site.
• Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds of material and up to 90 pounds of material with assistance, if requested.
• Frequently walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching and climbing.
• Willing to wear basic PPE (personal protective equipment) such as hard-hat, safety glasses and high visibility vest.
