Artemis Arc is Hiring a Communication Specialist Near Washington, DC

Job Summary

Artemis is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist with a strong background in strategic communications and project management to support and execute efforts for a federal client. The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer; skilled at developing communication materials for a variety of mediums and stakeholders; a proactive problem-solver who works well both independently and as part of a team; and committed to providing superior customer service and have a positive and flexible attitude. They are comfortable receiving and implementing feedback on project tasks. They will assist in the development, tracking and support of program communications across a variety of platforms as well as ensure themes, messages and desired outcomes are consistent across communication channels.

This candidate will be expected to work onsite in Washington, D.C. approximately three times a week.

This is a contingent hire position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans for major and minor campaigns.
  • Identify target audiences, craft key messaging, and define communications goals for campaigns.
  • Work with government and internal subject matter experts to develop and review messaging.
  • Write and edit a variety of communication products, including but not limited to, blog posts, fact sheets, social media, web content, video scripts, good news stories, press releases, talking points, presentations, email communication, podcasts and more.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for and create relevant and impact content that is aligned to the government’s communications strategy.
  • Ensure products are suitable for government leadership, national media outlets, and other public-facing channels.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned by senior project management.
  • Translate complex messaging into plain language to ensure materials are easy to read, understand and use.
  • Ensure content conveys critical information and reflects key messaging in a standardized and consistent tone and voice.
  • Review documents for stylistic and formatting consistency.
  • Ensure all content aligns with client style guides and federal plain language standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Experience supporting complex projects and transformation efforts within the federal government.
  • Familiarity with congressional and other oversight bodies.
  • Comfortability with supporting complex client relationships.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Client Information

The OIT Office of Communication (OC) provides direct communication support to the Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology and Chief Information Officer, the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and the OIT Chief of Staff. OC is responsible for OIT’s communication strategy and implementation of that strategy, including strategic communication engagement with VA and OIT employees, VA business partners, oversight bodies, Veterans and end users of VA digital offerings, Information Technology industry partners and media. OC is accountable for the delivery of all strategic messaging products and services associated with that engagement
