PSC-CUNY WELFARE FUND is Hiring a Benefits Specialist Near New York, NY

The Benefits Specialist position at the PSC-CUNY Welfare Fund involves managing supplemental health benefits for City University of New York (CUNY) professors, professional employees, and managers. Here are some key responsibilities and qualifications for this role:

Responsibilities:

  • Member Communication: You’ll handle direct communications with members, addressing their concerns promptly.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain digital records of member interactions, including inquiries, comments, and complaints.
  • Enrollment Management: Process member enrollments and maintain accurate membership records.
  • Financial Tasks: Prepare monthly billing reports and verify vendor bills for payment.
  • Audits and Reporting: Assist in preparing eligibility audits of CUNY Universities and Colleges enrollments.
  • Specialty Reporting: Perform various other duties related to benefits administration.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience: You should have 6-8 years of related health benefits experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Access, and other Microsoft Office programs is essential.
  • Database Experience: Strong computer skills and familiarity with accessing databases are necessary.
  • Additional qualifications:
  • Experience with Taft-Hartley entities or equivalent is a plus.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and privacy rules.
  • Familiarity with New York City Union benefits is advantageous.
  • Any background in pharmacy and dental benefits is also beneficial.

This position currently offers a hybrid remote work schedule, subject to change, and a salary range of $68,000 to $72,000 based on experience. The Fund also provides competitive compensation and full benefits.
