God Restoring Order (GRO) Community is a mental healthcare provider that specializes in trauma recovery services for males of color ages 5 and up. GRO services are grounded in an understanding of the neurological, biological, and psychological effects of trauma. GRO services include mental health and wellness, stress management, and community outreach.

Job Description:

Purpose of Position: The Billing Clerk will be responsible for collecting payments and reimbursements from Medicaid and other insurance carriers. The billing clerk will take responsibility for accurately coding, inputting data, and submitting claims sufficiently.

Essential Functions:

  • Collects both Ohio and Illinois Medicaid reimbursements by gathering, coding, and transmitting client care information.
  • Keeps up to date on information required for remittance of client care by Medicaid and communicates this information to revenue staff.
  • Reviews client records to check for proper Medicaid coding and completeness and makes corrections accordingly.
  • Analyzes client billing records for completeness and accuracy and obtains additional information and clarification, as necessary.
  • Resolves billing discrepancies by conducting further research and correcting errors.
  • Resolves disputed claims by consulting with state Medicaid administration claims clerks and following up on all bills not processed within usual claim period.
  • Prepares reports based on Medicaid billing data and revenue.

· Ensures payments by verifying accuracy of Medicaid coding.

· Resolves disputed claims by gathering, verifying, and providing additional information and following up on claims.

· Resolves discrepancies by examining and evaluating data.

· Adjusts patient bills by reviewing remittance advice and consulting with Medicaid office.

· Prepares monthly reports of Medicaid billings, adjustments, and revenues received.

· Participates in professional educational opportunities to keep current on Medicaid billing and reimbursement procedures.

· Will collect and bill other insurance carriers for reimbursement of services as needed

Qualifications:

Required Education:

· Minimum of High School Diploma, bachelor’s degree preferred

· Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), or the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required/preferred

· Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration in order to prescribe certain medications.

Experience:

· A minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical office setting

· 2-3 years previous billing, bookkeeping, or clerical experience

· 1-2 years of Ohio Medicaid billing experience required

· 2-3 years of Illinois Medicaid billing experience required

· Indiana Medicaid Experience desired

· Some commercial and private insurance billing experience

· Proficiency in MS office and Google Suite
