Perishable Manager
Department: Produce/Meat Job Status: Full Time

Shift hours that best suit perishable needs, scheduled by Perishable Clerk
the store manager and/or assistant manager. Nights and
weekends might be necessary.
POSITION SUMMARY
Directly supervise perishable clerks in produce and meat department. Duties may include management functions, along with responsibility for the profitability of the produce/meat operation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide all customers friendly, courteous and prompt service. Greet, assist and respond to customer
inquiries and complaints.
Monitor sales activities to ensure that customers receive satisfactory service and quality goods.
Assign employees to specific duties.
Direct and supervise employees engaged in sales, inventory-taking, reconciling cash receipts, or in
performing services for customers.
Inventory stock and reorder when inventory drops to a specified level.
Keep records of purchases, sales, and requisitions.
Enforce safety, health, and security rules.
Examine products purchased for resale or received for storage to assess the condition of each
product or item.
Train perishable clerk and evaluate job performance.
Perform work activities of subordinates, such as cleaning, sweeping and moping perishable work area
and perishable cooler on a regular basis as outlined by store manager.
Establish and implement policies, goals, objectives, and procedures for their department.
Instruct staff on how to handle difficult and complicated sales.
Responsible for recording and maintaining accurate bookkeeping systems as far as weekly perishable
purchases and monthly perishable purchases.
Responsible for ordering and merchandising for time of the month as far as sales and merchandising
according to season as outlined by Crossroads Specialist.
Examine merchandise to ensure that it is correctly priced and displayed and that it functions as
advertised.
Observe schedule shift hours that would best suit perishable operations and one that would take care
of customers at peak times assigned by store manager and/or assistant manager.
Responsible for inventorying all products on hand before preparing a perishable order.
Properly record all hours worked. Verify and sign the time ticket report.
Be responsible to work within the perishable operations budget as far as gross profit and produce/meat
distribution.
Responsible for ordering all produce/meat along with the assistance of the store manager and/or assistant
manager.
Responsible for maintaining perishable case, keeping cooler dated, organized and properly rotated.
Responsible for taking a four week period end perishable inventory and forwarding to management on
timely basis as outlined by Crossroads Specialist.
Be sure that all perishable credits are called into warehouse in time frame outlined by warehouse.
Responsible for overall appearance and eye appeal of sales floor.
Responsible for ordering and merchandising for time of month as far as sales and merchandising
according to season as outlined by Crossroads Specialist.
Perform specific tasks as assigned by the store manager and/or assistant manager.
