Beaver Creek Archaeology, Inc., a cultural resource management (CRM) consultancy with offices in Bismarck, ND and Artesia, NM, is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Part-Time Assistant Architectural Historian. BCA conducts project work throughout the central-western United States, with a significant focus on the Great Plains region. The primary role is to research and effectively communicate the findings, methodologies, and significance of architectural historical investigations to various interested parties, including state and federal agency reviewers and BCA clients. Additionally, the Part-Time Architectural Historian is responsible for making eligibility recommendations for historic structures in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). The position supports the analysis and historic documentation of the architectural history aspects of a variety of projects, including pedestrian surveys, architectural surveys, and HABS and HAER documentation.
Position Overview
This position can be remotely based or a hybrid position. The successful candidate can expect to regularly work 20 hours a week during regular business hours (Central Time Zone). Compensation will be commensurate with the applicant’s level of education and previous experience. Successful candidates may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position with accompanying benefits.
The Assistant Architectural Historian assists the architectural historian in evaluating, researching, and accurately contextualizing architectural resources for overseeing agencies, helping to inform agencies’ project decisions and recommended site treatment measures of architecturally significant properties and in some cases assist with Section 106 mitigation projects.
